Game one of Skid's season at Citi. August 19th - GAME #127 at Oakland Athletics (73-51)
Dilion Gee(4-5) vs Scott Kazmir (13-5)

59-68

Oakland had lost five straight games going into this contest. The last time the Mets had faced former prospect Scott Kazmir they roughed him up a bit. But that was then, this is now. Oakland got back on track by knocking around Dilion Gee in the forth inning. Mets catcher Travis d'Arnaud batted as the Mets DH and homered in the 4th inning against Kazmir while catcher Anthony Recker doubled in the Mets only other run.

I went to this game with my friend Steve, who lives in the Bay Area, and my son Jeff, who used to go with me all the time when he was a kid in the 80's. I had nice seats just past the Mets first base dugout and 16 rows back. Although the ballpark sucks the crowd is good and hey, it's a baseball game! Stayed the night at my son's house who lives close by the Oakland coliseum, well closer than me.

August 20th - GAME #128 at Oakland Athletics (74-51)
Zack Wheeler (8-8) vs Jeff Samardzija (3-2)

60-68

Game two in Oakland was better for Mets fans. The Mets rallied for five runs in the top of the third with a leadoff home run by Eric Campbell and a 3-Run bomb by Lucas Duda. The Mets had been starving for hits the last week and the offensive explosion was well received. Two drunk A's fans behind us chatted most of the game driving me a little nuts by their lack of knowledge ["Who is den Decker? Never heard of him"]. When they complained about A's pitcher Jeff Samardzija getting shelled, I turned to them and asked "What team did they get Samardzija from?". After they answered "Cubs" as I knew they would, I replied "That explains it" while a Mets fan next to them laughed aloud.

My son Jeff and his wife Tracy went with me today. It was warm but the Bay Area breeze kept flowing over us to make it an enjoyable day. Afterward we BBQ'd at his house and then I got him hooked on "Walking Dead" as he had never seen the show before. He then watched all 4 seasons in less than a week!
