Let's Go Mets! August 2 - HOME GAME #56 vs Washington Nationals (54-48)

Noah Syndergaard (5-5) takes the mound for the hot NY Mets. Since June 26, Noah Syndergaard is 3-1 with a 1.29 ERA, 43 strikeouts and 10 walks in 42 innings. 55-50

Lets Go Mets! With a rowdy crowd behind them the Mets pulled into a tie with Washington for 1st place in the NL East. The third inning saw 3 Mets hitters homer off of Nats starter Zimmermann, who only lasted 6 innings giving up 5 runs. Curtis Granderson and Daniel Murphy homered to right on back-to-back pitches. After new slugger Yoenis Cespedes singled on a 1-0 pitch, Red Hot Lucas Duda hit his 21st home run to give the Mets 5 runs on 5 pitches. Duda has homered nine times in eight games, the first Mets player to ever do that. Noah Syndergaard held the Nationals in check, walking no one, striking out 9 in 8 innings. His last pitch was measured at 100 mph and it struck out Nats slugger Bryce Harper to end the 8th inning. New Mets and former Nationals reliever Tyler Clippard pitched a scoreless ninth for the save.

View for game #56

Tonight's game was a reunion for the 2015 Mets Fantasy Camp which I was fortunate enough to attend last January. It was great to see so many familiar faces at Citi Field. Although I already had a ticket for the game just behind the Mets dugout, the campers sat together in the big apple seats in center field. I spent time at each seat.

Before the game everyone who played at camp got to walk out onto the warning track and we got introduced on the video board. Many fantasy campers are local to the New York area so they had some family there in the stands. As we walked onto the track, many of the guys were getting welcomed by family members yelling from the seats. It was a bummer I didn't have someone there to support me but as I walked back to the bullpen area gate, I looked up and saw Curtis standing in his spot by the Shea Bridge, smiling and waving at me. After the game another usher said she saw me up on the video board. These are some of the people who are my Citi Field family.

I will do a separate page this week about the camp reunion.

Watching the Mets hit 3 HR in 5 pitches while hanging with my camp friends was awesome. The electricity in the ballpark all weekend has been unbelievable. When the ballpark is full of real Mets fans it is like no other.

Mets tied for First!

"The electricity in the ballpark going through that was incredible," Collins said. "It was enough to ride to the finish."
