in my home town of Modesto. I remember driving by the venue twice during the day while working, seeing the rental van for equipment parked outside. My brother and several close friends gathered for the long ten minute drive from my house to the show. Most of us had seen in Palo Alto earlier that year in August, on my birthday no less! Being a small dining hall sized room with a stage at one end, the venue was not large by any scale. The warm-up band escapes me now but we were there to see Schenker & !Once the opening band had finished and the stage was cleared, the roadies set up equipment to the blasting tunes of Thin Lizzy's Jailbreak, one of my favorite albums that I really had not heard in a while. It played thru once and then I was surprised to hear it start repeating from the begining. In fact it played two and a half times!!! The crowd and my friends and I became suspicious when it took so long for them to come out on stage. Eventually the roadies reappeared onstage and quietly took the waiting guitars backstage. We knew something was awry and someone from the venue went onstage to announce that the show was postponed. How dissapointed we were! I don't think there will ever be another opportunity to see this lineup in my humble hometown.
