LITESTEP THEME

What the hell is Litestep?
Litestep is a replacement for the normal (boring) Windows desktop. It'll replace the desktop icons, taskbar, system tray, and the start button making it better looking, more customizeable, and more functional. You can still have a Start menu, taskbar, and all those other things but you can now control how they look and where they are. You can also add stuff like Winamp controls, a volume slider, or the Run box to your desktop.

This is the ultimate way of Venom-izing your computer. Check out the pictures to see what I mean.

Click the small screenshot above to see what it looks like and to get a full explination of the features that the theme has.

Below are some screenshots of other Litestep themes, just to show you other ways you can make your computer look.

Okay, now if you're wondering how to install it, here's what you do:

Step 1) Download the Litestep distribution (LSDistro) here.
Step 2) Install it into C:\LSDistro.
Step 3) Download the Venom LS Theme here.
Step 4) Unzip it to C:\LSDistro\Themes.
Step 5) Open the step.rc file in the C:\LSDistro\Themes\Venom folder in Notepad.
Step 6) Edit the lines near the top that point to your My Documents, Start Menu Programs, etc. so that they're correct.
Step 7) Run LSTS.exe in C:\LSDistro and select Venom as your theme.
Step 8) Using Notepad open C:\Windows\System.ini and change the following:
Place a semilcolon (;) at the beginning of the line which reads:
shell=C:\Windows\Explorer.exe
so that it now reads:
;shell=C:\Windows\Explorer.exe
Make a new line right below that one that says this:
shell=C:\LSDistro\litestep.exe
Step 9) Save the file and reboot your PC.
Step 10) Enjoy...

It's really not as hard as it sounds, trust me.

By the way, if you have more than one user on your computer and you log in with a name and password when your computer starts and would like to only use Litestep when you log in you will need a program called ShellOn. Get it here.
