A Letter from Margaret.
Here is the picture of my latest stitchery. It won
a
blue ribbon and a best in show in needle arts at
the
Wisconsin state fair and will be on display there.
The technique is called "padded english
goldwork"
and hasn't changed appreciably since at least as
far
back as the time of Henry the VIII. It is done with
real gold over 3-dimensional felt padding. I also
have a lace piece on display that also won a blue
ribbon and a best in show in the needle lace
division, a beaded necklace that won a blue ribbon
and a nantucket basket that took 2nd place.
Thank you,
Margaret
