[If You're Not The One]

Daniel Bedingfield
"If You're Not The One"
Island Records (B0000267-32)
Release Date: March 25, 2003

"If You're Not The One" was the third and final single in the US from Daniel Bedingfield's debut album, but the first (and only) one to be commercially issued here. Originally a tender ballad, Metro provided a fabulous club mix that's presented on this disc. It also contains a medley of snippets of other tracks on the album, which unfortunately tends to focus on the previously issued singles. The biggest problem with this single is that they could have done more with it; a longer remix, live tracks, an exclusive b-side, maybe some of the remixes of "Gotta Get Thru This" or "James Dean (I Wanna Know)" - something to bulk the disc up a little more. Ultimately, the main reason to get this disc is for the remix version of "If You're Not The One" since the medley is not something you're likely to sit down and listen to over and over. A good song and a great remix, but a lousy snippet medley and a waste of a format.
