Dearest Reader:
It is once again the season of Carnival, "Farewell to Flesh." Cayenne McKenzie Del Roi is back with yet another Mardi Gras Adventure. It has been a rough year for Louisiana. Katrina changed the face of New Orleans forever, and time will tell how the traditions of the Mardi Gras season has been touched.
Cayenne evacuated to Lake Charles during the storm. There, beside shelter, she also discovered another part of Louisiana and even more traditions and celebrations. What's ahead for our Midwestern Detective in a Creole land? Thanks for tuning in and finding out.
The Carnival Season always begins on January 6 (rumor has it the Phunny Phorty Phellows will ride this year even though the St. Charles Avenue Trolleys were damaged in the aftermath of Katrina.) This year, Mardi Gras falls on February 28th. Thus, like in years past, the first chapter will begin on January 6 and the last chapter (eleven in all) will appear on February 28. There is fun and surprises lurking in the links of every chapter.
Mardi Gras is the perfect holiday for the dark days of Alaska. So wear a bright set of beads or a feather in your hair, and remember to count your blessings! Eat some good food! Send good thoughts toward the people of Mississippi and Louisiana. The Krewe du Roux is sponsoring The Recipe Page this year, so try a gumbo or bake a pecan cake or nibble on a beignette for fun, compliments of our Krewe.
Enjoy! Drop a line and let me know you are reading. Laissez le bon temps rouler e on est putain du chanceaux!
