Law Of The Blade (Remedy Records~2002)

I´ve never been a big fan of the modern power metal scene, mainly because I´ve found it filled with too much cheese and not enough power. I was pleasantly surprised upon hearing "Law Of The Blade", an album that has plenty of power, and is definitely metal. Opening track "Abducted" sets the tone as this veteran group from Germany delivers one stellar song after another, all of them built on a rock-solid foundation of ear-pleasing guitars. The riffs sound especially good with a great, razor-sharp guitar tone and are backed by a solid drum sound and vocals. The icing on this cake is beautiful, well-crafted lead guitar work. I´ll always love a good solo, especially when it fits well with the music and takes the song on a meaningful journey. Yeah, there are some cheesy lyrics here, but they blend in well with the other ingredients to form an enjoyable metal album. Sit back, crank it up and have fun.
