Imajin Bios

Brief Imajin Bio

In 1996, Bert Price brought together a group called Imajin. As a group, John "Jiz" Fitch, Olamide Faison, Talib Kareem, and Jamal Hampton were compared to guy groups that came before them like the Jacksons, New Editon, and Immature (IMx), but Imajin had the distinction of being musicians, not just singers/dancers. As a group, they recorded a self-titled album and appeared on several soundtracks including "The PJs", "The Wood", "In Too Deep" and "Rush Hour". Unfortunately, in December of 1999, Jive Records let the group go, they say, due to poor record sales. But they didn't let that stop them... they guys branched off into individual projects.

Jamal reportedly signed a record deal, and were rumors that he was working on a project with his sister Chantel. (As yet we're not sure if that's coming up in the future.) Talib released an album on his own Add Lib label with his fellow Add Lib artists $terling, Lil' Ak, Jibril, and his sister Kameelah (aka Mussie).

John and Olamide became a group within themselves. First they called themselves JizLams (a combination of their nicknames Jiz and Lamz), but then changed their name to MANNAH (which means "a usually sudden and unexpected source of gratification, pleasure, or gain"). They were working with their producer/mentor Bert Price at DoublePhatt Productions, and were set to release an album sometime in 2002.

There had been talk of an Imajin reunion, but it was dashed after reports that Talib had decided to stick to solo projects and producing other artists. But after a couple of months, all four members decided to come back together and show the world what Imajin is made of!! They've recorded the JizLams/Mannah track "Run to Me" and are working on new songs for a second album. They're looking for another record deal, and are already making public appearances. The crowds are receiving them with open arms and are looking forward to hearing more from Imajin!!

They're happy that their fans are being patient while the work hard to record a great album. They promise it will be worth the wait!

As of late 2002, Jamal has left Imajin to pursue a solo career. Tony Royster, Jr. is the new drummer/singer for Imajin.

Peace N Luv!!
