ON TUESDAY NOVEMBER 11, 1997 METALLICA PLAYED A FREE CONCERT IN THE PARKING LOT OF THE CORE STATE CENTER IN PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA. THE SHOW WENT ON DESPITE ALL THE CONTROVERSY THE FROM THE LOCAL POLITICIANS AND RESIDENTS. THEY DIDN'T LIKE THE IDEA OF ALLOWING A HEAVY METAL ROCK BAND PERFORM FOR FREE. AND APARENTLY THE ROARING NOISE FROM THE BAND'S OLD/HEAVY SETLIST WAS SCARING THE LOCALS AWAY 'CAUSE IT WAS GONNA BE TOO LOUD. DESPITE ALL THE DOUBTS, THE BAND PLAYED INCIDENT-FREE IN FRONT OF 30,000 ENERGETIC FANS. NOTE AFTER NOTE, SONG AFTER SONG, METALLICA DID WHAT THEY DO BEST, PLAY LIVE FOR THEIR FANS.

"It's (like) saying all ex-football players are potential wife killers. It's these stereotypes that you get stuck with." - Lars, about the concert
