Unprecedented Event To Serve As Non-Violent Response To Worldwide Terrorism

A multi-national volunteer effort to produce a concert for world peace has taken form on the popular tourist destination island of Bali, which is attracting the attention of major artists from around the world. The primarily Hindu island of Bali, with its 3000-year-old indigenous culture, viewed as a central point free of political ramifications, is hosting the pro-peace event. Officially sectioned by President Sukarnoputri Megawati of Indonesia, The World Peace Concert in Bali is scheduled to take place on Earth Day, June 14, 2003 at Garuda Wisnu Kencana in Bali and will be broadcasted live throughout the world. Producers of the three-hour broadcast will deliver the satellite feed out free to local TV networks in over 100 countries.

"The message of 'peace and human co-existence' needs to be shared with everyone regardless of economic standing," said show producer Matt Taylor. "This event will offer the world a window to the most diverse collection of important artists to ever share a stage. Major pop stars from China and Taiwan, India and Pakistan, Israel and the Arab world will come together with acts from several other countries with a unified message of world peace." After recently selecting Jay Chou as one of the biggest Asian Artists to particpate, show producer Matt Taylor is now in Japan making the final selection of Japanese talent to represent Japan in this extraordinary event.

An international collaboration of artists from various countries -- some with a history of suffering from war and violence -- fill the list of artists planning to attend the event. Artists who have pledged their support and participation to the event include: Jay Chou (Taiwan); Regine Valasquez (Philippines); Sheryl Crow (U.S.); Zap Mama (France); Baba-G (India); Zucchero (Italy); Stewart Copeland of The Police (U.K.); Alabina (Israel/Europe); Hakim (Egypt); INXS (Australia); Kinky (Latin America); Mario Frangoulis (Greece) and Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues (U.S.) among many others to be announced at a later date. The Garuda Wisnu Kencana is located atop a mountain, where the remains of a massive limestone quarry cutaway provide the walls, which constitute the perimeter of this open-air venue. The approximate capacity for this incredible event is 15,000 people.

The Peace Concert has already been granted the support of an impressive line up of sponsors, including Japan Airlines, the Ritz-Carlton Bali, the Four Seasons Bali, and the Grand Hyatt Bali, who are generously donating resources and services in order to promote the cause for peace. The islands suffered its first-ever terrorist bombing last October at a nightclub in Kuta and organizers view this Concert For Peace as a positive, non-violent response to the recent tragedy; and others like it around the world. All proceeds from this concert will go into an international educational scholarship fund for children and spouses of victims of terrorist acts.

The Concert For Peace in Bali is produced by music industry veterans Jay Coleman and Matt Taylor. The worldwide satellite broadcast will be directed by Dick Curruthers (Elton John, Aerosmith, The Who, Rolling Stones) and stage design will be created by Mark Fisher (Rolling Stones, U2). At this time the producers of this magnificent show are accepting solicitation for the exclusive TV rights for regional broadcast networks.
