FROM DAN L - THE WHITEMAN PROJECT REPORT
Dear Toasters,
Thanks to the diligent efforts of John E. Miller, we now have
virtually everything needed to complete the Paul Whiteman project,
which began many moons ago. I have finished 10 discs--nine volumes
of the complete acoustics plus the first volume of electrics.
Some of the records are desperately in need of upgrading. Our plan
is to circulate this first series only among collectors who
would like to participate in sifting through the discs and comparing
the condition of my records with the copies in their own collection.
I realize many of the sides I transferred are available (in better
sound) on CD, or even LP, but I deliberately used shellac in all
cases, except where none was available. I have most of the acoustics
on shellac, and a great many Whiteman CDs and LPs, and I plan to A-B
the shellac with the same sides on other formats, eventually. The
main thing was to get the "first draft" done.
If you are interested in participating in "Round One," please let
Will Friedwald
(<unclefreeds@nyc.rr.com>unclefreeds@nyc.rr.com) and Donald
