Abominant emerged from three fallen bands in the early 90’s. The original line up consisted of Mike May and Timmie Ball of Sarcoma, and Craig Netto and Buck Wiedeman of Effigy. With Timmie on vocals they entered Polaris studios to record “Promo 94”. Shortly after Buck left the band and Abominant continued as a Three piece until ex-Cataclysm vocalist Mike Barnes joined the group to perform for one show. Mike executed his part flawlessly and added a powerful element to the band. Ever since Mike B. has been a permanent member of Abominant. As a four piece they reentered Polaris Studios to record their official demo “Never Truly Dead”. The demo sold nearly a thousand copies and received high marks from metal publications such as Metal Maniacs, Ill Literature and the Pit. It also found its way into the hands of Arctic Circle Records whom which they signed a deal with to do a six song mini CD. In May of 95 Abominant entered New Power Studios to record six new tracks for the Arctic Circle release. After producing the album they supported their new material with a few shows but two weeks before their Halloween release date Arctic Circle declared bankruptcy and closes their doors. Disappointed yet still eager to play they continued to make appearances at shows including the International Metalfest with Immolation, Gorguts, and Ancient to mention a few. Other labels showed interest in Abominant but in May of 96 they decided to go with Wild Rags Records. Neither the band nor the wild rags felt a mini CD would do justice for Abominant. So in June of 96 Abominant enter Ramcat Studios to record three more tracks to be released on their full-length album “Unspeakable Horrors”. “Unspeakable Horrors” was released exactly one year after Arctic Circles demise with Abominant on Halloween of 96! Abominant recorded two more full length albums with Wild Rags, “In Darkness Embrace” and “The Way After” but sometime in 99 Wild Rags Owner Richard C. Disappeared without a trace and left Abominant without a label. That same year Buck resurfaces and rejoins Abominant. Without a label they continued their metal Crusade with shows and writing new material as a five piece. Shortly after they joined alliances with Deathgasm Records to release their fourth epic “Ungodly”. A tentative release date has been set for October 2000. Abominant has overcome problems but remain true to playing metal for the right reasons.Abominant is not about trends, they continue to do what they do best and that’s kicking ass in the metal underground.
