Abortus started out in Sydney in mid 1998. They began this project as a 5-piece band, and During the first three months of this project, the band recorded a four song demo. Soon after this some line-up problems occurs, at that stage Abortus was at sixes & sevens, & after several unsuccessful attempts to find the right front man Abortus' future wasn't looking good. There was even talk to remain a four-piece band & having lead vocals/rhythm guitar. Before that idea could get off the ground Abortus received a call from it's current vocalist, Jack, stating that he was interested in trying out for the band. Jack had his audition, passed the test, & the rest is history. After some intense rehearsals, in early January 1999, Abortus was finally ready to raise it's flag around the local scene & see how many people would salute it. The local metal heads had given a great reception & Abortus proved that they were here to stay, & put a permanent dent on the Sydney metal scene. After a few gigs the band experienced some more line up troubles, and decided to go on as a four-piece & continued to impress. The live reputation Abortus had gained secured live supports with all the major Australian Metal Acts, Then in late 99 landed a support slot with Seattle metallers Nevermore for their Australian tour. Just after that, the old drummer had left the band and the drummers spot was vacant for four whole months, so Abortus were forced to still search for a new drummer. This made the way for our current, more technical & extreme drummer Michael. Michael joined the band in August of 2000, & in January 2001 we recorded our second full length, titled “Process Of Elimination”.

THE DEBUT CD: "Judge me not.." was recorded in mid 1999. it had been well received by the metal fans, both locally & internationally. The CD was self-released by the band in September 1999, & the first pressing completely sold out & was then repressed. Abortus had also focussed on serious self-promotion in the year 2000, through both the major metal magazines & underground mags around the world.

THE NEW CD: “Process Of Elimination” is a huge step forward compared to the previous one… the new album productions costs have doubled, with the result of an incredibly powerful sound, and with the input of a more extreme, versatile & technical drummer, combined with the improved musicianship of the band, is a much more extreme, melodic & technical album, full of Intensity, Aggression and Groove! Once the pre-production was complete, Abortus continued vigorous rehearsals to prepare for the final recording. This was done in January – February of 2001, at one of Australia’s leading recording studios, “Velvet Sound”, in Sydney. The new album was recorded on to 2 inch reels from a 24 track analogue desk, requested by Abortus. Once the recording & mixing was complete, “Abortus” had to do post production work, by mastering this recording. It was mastered by Rick O’neill at “Turtle – Rock Mastering Studios”, one of the top two mastering studios in the country…. Don’t Expect a “Typical-Clean-Euro-Sound”, here everything is Raw, Violent and Wild!
