BUTTERFLY MESSIAH was formed in 1998 by Shannon Garson and Robert Davis. The duo began simply seeking to express elements of synth pop, medieval and 'electronica' in an effort to create music for an underground scene that was pretty barren. This resulted in two limited edition demo releases, 'Spiderwebs' in 1999 and 'Synthesis' in 2000.

BUTTERFLY MESSIAH moved their operation to Tampa in 2001, and chanced upon a third member, Josh Harrington. Shortly after the addition to the group, BUTTERFLY MESSIAH headed to the studio to complete production of new and reworked material. Some of these tracks soon started popping up on a variety of compilation CDs, fostering an intense interest among a wide variety of music fans worldwide. The buzz led to a deal with project label Fossil Dungeon in March 2002, and that Summer saw the release of their first full-length disc Priestess.

In November 2002 BUTTERFLY MESSIAH released the band’s latest Single/EP It's Time, which signals a shift in the band's sensibility and an incredible upgrade in song and sound quality. Work is on the way for a groundbreaking second full length release tentatively titled 'Eternal'.

In 2002, BUTTERFLY MESSIAH performed at Gothcon in New Orleans and Dragoncon in Atlanta. In 2003, they have performed at Beyond the Veil in Leeds (England).
