Divine Empire was formed after Derrik, John and Jason quit Malevolent Creation. They were getting the itch to play some brutal fast crazy metal and just got together and wrote like 6 songs in a week. A demo was recorded at Johns home studio and sent out. They received several offers from different labels and decided to go with Olympic.
The 1st album Redemption was recorded in August of 1997. Afterwards a big tour with Vader, Cryptopsy and Gorguts was done. In summer of 1999 a US/Canadian tour with Emperor, Borknagar, Witchery and Peccatum became a big succes. After the tour some personal problems raised with drummer Derrick Roddy and basically parted ways with Divine Empire.
For the newest album Alex Marquez recorded the drum tracks. He came in and learned the stuff in like two weeks! He did a great job for such a short notice. Currently the band is looking for a drummer to continue the crusade.
