Judas Iscariot is not only one of the disciples of Jesus, but also a really true black metal one-man-project, founded by Andrew 'Akhenaten' Harris back in 1992 under the name of Heidegger (changed to Judas Iscariot in 1993). In 1993 Akhenaten released his first demo, which was composed in traditions of early Darkthrone and Gorgoroth. Really tough, really true, really dark!
In 1995 Akhenaten released his first full-length alum 'The Cold Earth Slept Below...' on Moribund Records. This was a total dark metal with awesome guitar riffs, antichristian lyrics and mystic atmosphere.
Within the next couple of years Akhenaten released his first EP 'Arise, My Lord...' (1997) and single 'March Of The Apocalypse' (1996). Thus he had time to participate in his side-projects: Sarcophagus and Seeds Of Hate.
'Thy Dying Light', the second Judas Iscariot album was to be released at Head Not Found, but their headquarters - Voices Of Wonder - was shocked by the extremity of Judas Iscariot and refused to release the album. Thus it was released by Moribund Records.
Soon Akhenaten moved from his motherland America (Dekalb, Illinois) to Germany, and 'Of Great Eternity' - the next album - had been already recorded in Nurnberg, March 1997. In two years Akhenaten managed to release 'Distant In Solitary Night' which was recorded back in 1996, but failed to see this world then.
In 1999 Judas Iscariot signs the contract with Red Stream Records, who were much impressed by the upcoming release of 'Heaven In Flames'. It had been released in Europe on MC and vinyl limited edition by that time.
Suddenly Akhenaten produced his MCD 'Dethroned, Conquered & Forgotten', without notification of anybody.
2002 was a good year for Akhenaten. He releases 'To Embrace The Corpses Bleeding' at Red Stream and rewrites 'The Cold Earth Slept Below...'.
Akhenaten is not only a musician, but also a staff member of Breath Of Night Records. He also publishes his own magazine 'Nihilist Resistanse'. Akhenaten also participated in such bands as Sarcophagus, Krieg, Nargaroth, Maniac Butcher, Seeds Of Hate and Weltmacht. Among session musicians that played in Judas Iscariot can be called Cryptic Winter (Drums), Proscriptor Mc Govern (Drums), Lord Imperial (Guitars, Bass).
Judas Iscariot was terminated on August 25, 2002. R.I.P.
The current Akhenaten's project is Weltmacht together with Lord Imperial (Black Virginity, Demonic Christ, Devotee, Judas Iscariot, Krieg, Profonation) and Cryptic Winter (Broken Hope, Divine Empire, Forest Of Impaled, Krieg, Sarcophagus).
