Essen (Germany) based trio KREATOR, were formed in 1982 as TORMENTOR by Mille Petrozza (vocals/guitar), Ventor (drums) and Rob (bass). They recorded the "Blitzkrieg" and "End Of The World" demos with this same name but changed it into KREATOR right after the release of the last tape. In 1985, they get a deal with Noise Records and this same year, they record and release their debut record "Endless Pain". As the band wanted to augment their live sound, the band try to get a second guitarist. Wulf from SODOM joined for a brief period during 1986. Their second opus "Pleasure To Kill" was recorded with this line up getting an incredible success all around the world and the band was found sharing the bill with RAGE and DESTRUCTION this same year, after which Jorg Tritze is added to the line up, but not before releasing the maxi "Flag Of Hate".

In 1987 KREATOR toured America as support for D.R.I. Backed by a promotional video for "Toxic Trace" that gained the band valuable MTV exposure and ensured sales of the band's third album "Terrible Certainty". This set the tone for the subsequent "Out Of The Dark..." compilation album, a record that opened the gate for their incredible "Extreme Aggression" record, released in 1989. Just prior to their 1989 American tour playing alongside SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, Tritze was ousted of the band in favour of SODOM's Frank "Blackfire". This line up would record 1990's "Coma Of Souls" in Los Angeles that was produced once again by the famous producer Randy Burns (who in fact did the prodcution for "Extreme Aggression").

A rather bizarre incident occurred later that same year, when KREATOR pulled out of their London Electric Ballroom show complaining that they would have to play with a decibel meter in attendance! Still, no such problems prevented the band from completing a succesful South American tour in 1992 performing in Chile, Brazil and Argentina. 1992 see the release of "Renewal" with a new line up consisting on Mille Petrozza (vocals/guitar), Frank "Blackfire" Gosdzick (guitar), Christian Giesler (bass) and Joe Cangelosi (drums and ex-WHIPLASH member). However, by the end of this same year both Gosdzick and Cangelosi were to depart. The band filled the gap with ex-CORONER guitarist Tommy Vetterli and returning drummer Jürgen "Ventor" Reil and release "Outcast" a much different album that started to show what the new musical direction of the band was going to be.

Mille's new ideas were evident by this time and in 1999, the resulting album, "Endorama", was a desperate try to show those new ideas, further distancing itself from its predecessors, and amazingly underutilizing the talents of Vetterli. The album was both despised by the critics and the fans for its radical change in style and music. After this poor release, there were two compilation albums: "Voices Of Transgression" and "Past Life Trauma" that were more of a try to show fans that the band was still active and ready to continue... How? No one knew at the time. Fortunately, two years later (2001) the band, with Petrozza, Ventor, Giesler and new addition Sami Yli Sirniö (on guitars) recorded what's their latest offering til the moment "Violet Revolution", a record that takes what the band left after the release of "Coma Of Souls" with all the typical KREATOR aggression and violence, but in a more modern way.

Latest news about the band are that they're near to release a live album entitled "Live Kreation (Revisioned Glory)". Mille is doing a contribution for an Israeli band called EMBLAZE and he's making too a guest appearance on the new DESASTER album, soon to be released. KREATOR is playing in Korea, as part of the Football World Cup. It's their first live show ever in that country. The show is going to be professionally filmed, and the material will be used on the live DVD which is going to be released in the late 2002.
