-Red Tide-

In the fall of 1999, in the northern Canadian city of Edmonton, three longtime musicians came together to put their mark on the world of extreme metal. Red Tide was partially formed and thus began months of heavy rehearsing and songwriting while trying to complete the lineup. The singular vision of what Red Tide was to be meant that only a handful of musicians actually met their expectations. After a year and a half of rehearsing, frustrating auditions and hard work, the band was finally complete. Red Tide consists of Pat Milloy, Kyle Pszyk, Brad Dunn, Terry Bowsfield, and Morgan Turner.

Having previous experience in the extreme metal genre helped the members of Red Tide decide where to take the band musically. Fed up with the trends and labeling, Red Tide set out to be a metal band and to stay away from limiting classifications. Each member brings a wide variety of influences to Red Tide. When writing, the idea is to try to incorporate as many disparate ideas as possible into each song without becoming incoherent. Red Tide aims to continually evolve, combining most genres of metal; using its harshest elements for maximum results.

In the fall of 2001 Red Tide made their first live appearance, and in the following months played 20 shows in the Edmonton area opening for the likes of Exhumed, Disciples of Power and Thorazine. Red Tide?s live show is no frills intensity, adrenaline and straight up brutality.

In the early months of 2002, Red Tide entered the recording studio in Edmonton to record their first cd. Engineer/Producer Glenn Freckleton was able to capture the aggression and fury that is Red Tide. While already beginning to write material for their next release, Red Tide plans to tour extensively throughout Western Canada in support of their self-titled debut.
