Whenever New Orleans native Philip Anselmo commits to a venture, he does it in 2 fashions: viciously and to the extreme! From fronting the world-renowned Metal titan Pantera to running his own underground Metal label Housecore Records, and emulating nature's dark side with his annual House Of Shock Horror Show extravaganza, Philip gives 110% of his blood & sweat into each project. His latest endeavor, the spine-crushing band SUPERJOINT RITUAL, is the gruesome crux of his musical passion.
SUPERJOINT RITUAL is comprised of Philip on guitar & vocals, Jimmy Bower (Eyehategod / C.O.C. / Down) on guitar, Joe Fazzio on drums, and touring members, Kevin Bond, and III. Their debut album Use Once And Destroy will be released through Sanctuary Records on May 21st. Simultaneously spotlighting Philip's guitar talents and trademark acid-tongued vocal assault, the disc is a sonic demonstration of a NEW school in Heavy Rock - that which incorporates malevolent, abrasive Metal rumblings, gut-searing vocals and a sinister Punk edge.
'You're dealing with a bunch of fucking different emotions coming out of me,' explains Anselmo. 'The lyrical content is pretty f**king extreme on this record, and I think the music really calls for that…it sounds like a really violent car wreck.'
