A lot of people would say that Thalion is a premature band. Formed by musicians that are still too young, this is the first impression we have of this party-of-five that decided to get together and dedicate their lives 100% to Heavy Metal.

Thalion was formed in the middle of 2001, when the guitar player Rodrigo Vinhas began the selection of the musicians that would be a part of the project with him. The first one to join the band was David Shalom (bass), soon followed by Fábio Russo (guitar), Alexandra Liambos (vocals), and last but not least, Gian Scairato (drums).

The impression of Thalion being a 'premature band' stops right there. After a short time on the road the band proved its potential, and in only a few months signed a record deal with Hellion Records.

Since then the band started working on the songs for their debut album, called "Another Sun". It is a conceptual work, developed from a plot created by the guitar player Rodrigo Vinhas, who explains that "each song is a chapter of an involving story". And what is the theme of the lyrics? Well, according to Rodrigo, "they are focused on the human behavior".

The band has the mix of melodic heavy metal and progressive heavy metal as a style, added up to the unique voice of Alexandra Liambos. With the thematic and musicality set, the band started to work on the recording of their first album in December of 2003.

"Another Sun" was recorded at the well-known Creative Studios, and the production was on the hands of nobody else but Philip Colodetti (Shaman, Kamelot, Rhapsody). The album has a crystal-clear production, but at the same time it sounds heavy and it does not disappoint the die-hard Heavy Metal fans.

Since day-one the band was involved, conscious and totally aware of every detail of the album, and because of that they decided to add up yet more great talents and worldwide known musicians to it: Andre Matos and Fabio Ribeiro (Shaman), Fabio Laguna (Angra), and Michael Kiske (ex-Helloween).

The art work was developed by the Portuguese artist Isabel de Amorim, who is famous for working with bands like Angra, Adágio and Vanden Plas.

Playing live is also vital if you want to sound good inside a studio. During the pre-production of the album, Thalion participated on a little tour that passed by many Brazilian cities, including some important shows with Shaman. It is only the beginning of the road for a band that is a promise for the heavy metal scene in 2004.
