Zyklon-B is a project band started by Samoth back in 1993. It is kind of a cult band 'cause they've only made one record, which is about hate and death, and which was recorded in the middle of all the chaos in Norway with burning down christian churches, the killing of Euronymous of Mayhem etc. Samoth got Frost of Satyricon to join the band on drums. As Samoth expresses, this is not a nazi- nor a racist band. It is an aggresion against the downfall of humanity, that is practically at it's end with no decency and values left. People tend to get nazi associations because of the bandname Zyklon-B, which is a chemical substance also called blue acid (HydrogeneCyanide). It was used during the period of holocaust in the nazi koncentrazion camps in Poland, Auschwitz and Birkenau. The chemical was supposed to have been used to kill jews, as it, when in liquid form and exposed to temperatures exceeding 25,7 degrees celsius, boils and creates a gas that penetrates your skin and kills you within a short period of time. It is also used as an insectkiller.
'Blood Must Be Shed' was done in a hurry just before Samoth went to serve 2 years in prison for burning down the Skjold church. Frost and Samoth got Aldrahn of Dødheimsgard on vocals and Ihsahn of Emperor on keyboard to join them. The MCD contains 3 tracks which are all fast but not really blackmetal as we now it. The singing by Aldrahn is nothing like the traditional rough screaming he does so well in Dødheimsgard, but more like yelling mad as hell, which, we must say, is in the spirit of this cd. Frost, as always rules the fast playing on the drums. Track 2 'Bloodsoil' was made by legendary now incarcerated Bård Faust of Emperor. Track 3, 'Warfare', is the best and has some breaks with evil synthesizers leading up to an explosion on the drums and fast riffs. As is being said in the end of this song in an evil atmopsphere of sinister synths and churchsbells, this is what Zyklon-B is about: War is good. Aids is good. Massmurder is good. Gangviolence is good. Crack-Cocaine is good. Anything that contribute to depopulating the earth is good. In short: Misanthropy.
