Beach Access
Released on compact disc in 2002 by The Pier Group.
From CD insert:
Hi Everybody! We're back! Walt and I have written a bunch of new tunes and along with Scott, Dave, Janis, and Bruce we've worked them out and put together this new album for you. More and more people have been telling us how the pace of their lives has gotten crazy and they seem to have less and less time to just relax and regroup. We hope that if you can't get some time to kick back at the beach, you can at least slip this disc on your player, give it a spin, and let it be your "Beach Access"!

This album was considered for a Grammy for "Best Album Package" for its innovative use of real seashells in the spine of the cd case. (I believe it comes with six shells, but I had to replace the plastic case for my disc. I may have lost one of the shells in the process and so my cd has only five shells.)
This album is vastly different than any of the material the Malibooz have released prior. Though still surf rock, of course, this collection of songs lacks the humor found in Malibooz Rule! and A Malibu Kind of Christmas. The songs also do not follow the same concept of Living Water yet seem to have a spirituality all their own. The focus of this album seems to be on vocal harmonies and chord structure and the result is a wonderful, relaxing aural experience.
If "beach access" isn't within easy reach (and for me, the closest thing to a beach in my area is a putrid, mosquito-infested man-made ditch that some people call a lake, but I disagree), this album is best experienced while resting in the sun or in a shady place outside, a cool beverage in one hand, and headphones on to block out the noises around you. There is no filler to be found on this album, but there are some tracks that really stand out in my mind. Favorites are "California Days," "The Call of the Wave," "Summer is Over," and "Surfer's Tears."
