1. What's your name? *looks up and smiles, standing to shake your hand* I'm Lydia Hayes, but you can call me Lyddie. I always thought Lydia was too formal.

2. Got a nickname? *shakes her head* Just Lyddie. I haven't been in the city long enough to get one of those "newsie nicknames" yet. *as if on an afterthought, she grins and adds* Well, nothing worth going by, anyway.

3. How'd you get it? *shrugs a bit* It's just a shortened form of Lydia. My pa called me it.

4. What do you look like? *bites lower lip, looking toward the ceiling as she thinks* Well, I have auburn hair that I usually keep in a bun at the back of my head... *grins* I can't stand it in my way. Maybe it's just a habit I picked up back home; you cant have your hair all over the place while you're trying to serve customers their drinks... *realises she was babbling a bit and blushes* I have green eyes; my ma said they were my best feature, but I don't know. *shrugs a bit* I'm pretty tall, too, more so than most of the girls here at 5'7. *is slender, and actually very pretty*

5. What's your story? I'm originally from Franklin Cove, Massachusetts. That's why I don't have a "New Yawk" accent like others here. My father owned a tavern, and I started helping out there when I was twelve. Sailors from all over would come in when their boats docked in the harbour, and I heard some fascinating tales while wiping down tables or passing out drinks. *smiles, fondly remembering* *frowns slightly* My mother caught sick and passed away last winter, and my father just couldn't take the loss. He... *swallows a bit* He committed suicide in April, leaving me the tavern. As much as I loved it, I couldn't stay in Franklin Cove, so when a sailor *blushes, but you don't know why* offered me a lift here, I accepted.

6. What's your birthday and how old are you? June twenty-first... I'm seventeen.

7. Got a personality? Oh, no. I'm afraid I'm horribly boring... *smiles* I try to be kind to everyone, and a lot of the girls will come to me for advice... *laughs* I got a lot of mentoring practice back at the tavern. Sailors were forever asking my advice, especially on matters concerning girls... *smiles again* I'm not very sarcastic, but I can crack a joke once in a while.

8. Got any enemies? *shakes head* Not unless you count those drunken sailors I had to slap because they were getting a little fresh with me... *blushes slightly* But they were drunk, so I can't really blame them, and I doubt there are any hard feelings.

9. Any friends in other lodging houses? *shakes head again* I haven't been here long anough to really meet anyone... I'm still getting acquainted with the girls here! But *adds quickly* They all have been wonderful to me.

10. Got a sweetheart? *blushes* There was this one sailor... Tommy... His ship would come in once every six weeks, on the button. *lowers head to hide her red face* I suppose you could say we courted a bit. I haven't seen him in forever, though. It was he who arranged with his captain to give me a ride here, but that's the last I've seen him.

11. Anything else we should know? *thinks a bit, head still lowered* *shakes head yet another time* *looks up* *smiles* I don't believe, but you know where to find me. *waves you off*
