My Rustie Costume
When I first became a Starlight fan (in 2000), I was adopted by a group of people that liked to dress up for the show. I was eventually to learn that this is a popular hobby in Germany, but anyway, eventually I decided it looked like fun and that I wanted to try it out.
I was a bit afraid to at first, fearing that it was too big of a project for me to take on, so I focused on my Starlight Express Bears
But I still wanted to make a costume, and since Rusty is my favorite character, I wanted to make that one. Also, the costume looked relatively easy to make.
Then one day, two years later, my friend found a pair of brown velvet overalls at a thrift store for only $5, and it seemed like fate to me.
This was around the time that news of the US Tour came out. A few of us decided to imitate the European fans and dress up for a show.
Now I had the overalls and the proper motivation.
While I was making it, I kept taking some "in progress" pictures so I could show various "expert costume makers" and get advice.
I never took any actual pictures of it finished, but there are plenty of pictures of me wearing the final project on the US Tour Page
