Who Will She Choose?
(sequel to Macavity's Worst Nightmare)
By: Plato

As the days passed, Jazzi was healing nicely from the cuts she had inflicted. Tantomile took very special care of her, and Coricopat made sure she was eating well. Alonzo and Plato would stop in and check on her from time to time, and she enjoyed the time she got to spend with her brother. Although she never got to see him that often, she would always think about him and how much she loved him. When she was able to walk around, Plato would take her to meet some of his other friends if she felt up to it, but most of the time, just enjoyed his company. On warm days, he would take her to a secret spot only he knew about and they would sit there and talk for hours about nothing.

Back at the warehouse, Macavity was anxiously awaiting the return of his roommate. After seeing what a fool he has been for doing those things to her, he vowed to himself that if he ever got mad at her again, he would try to sort it out with her instead of torturing her. While he was alone in the room at night, he would look down at the spot where Jazzi used to sleep and say to himself, "Jazzi, if you come home, I promise I'll treat you better." Then he would curl up on the bed and leave plenty of room just in case she returned that night.

A month had passed and Jazzi was getting around much better. Alonzo and Plato were just on their way over to Pouncivals room when Jazzi came up to them and asked to speak to her brother alone. Alonzo then took Jazzi to his room closed his door. Plato, being the clever tom that he was, went to his pipe and snuck down the passageway to Alonzo's room being careful that he was never heard. "Lon, I have to go see if Macavity's all right. It's only for a couple of days, but I just want to know how he's doing without me" Jazzi told him. "But what about Plato?" he asked her, "Macavity said you would need choose between him or Plato for a mate." "I heard, that's one of the reasons why I have to see Macavity. I have seen the way Plato cares for me and I just want to know if Macavity could do the same with me being gone for a month now." "Allright go, but I warn you, if he so much as lays one finger on you, he'll regret the day he was ever born" and gave his sister a hug goodbye.

While Plato was in the pipe listening, his heart melted when Jazzi talked about him in that way. After she left the room, Alonzo said "You can come out now Plato, she's gone" and smiled as Plato came crawling out. "But how did you know?" Plato asked him. "Trust me, I know you better than anybody else in the Junkyard" Alonzo replied. "When will she be back?" Plato quizzed. "Couple of days, by then, she should be sure of who her mate will be, you or Macavity."

When she returned to the warehouse, she immediately ran to her room to see if Macavity was there. "Hi Mackie!" she said cheerfully to him. His eyes looked up at her as he gave her the biggest smile he ever could. "I've missed you Jazzi." and got up to hug her. "I've missed you too." she told him. "How long are you here for?" he asked as he helped her sit down. "For a couple of days. In the meantime, I'm going to think about whom I will choose for my mate" she responded. He then left the room to hunt for their dinner, 'A special time calls for a special meal' he wondered and then knew exactly what to hunt for. "Pheasant, one for each of us!" he shouted as he set out to find those birds.

After they ate their dinner, Jazzi curled up next to Macavity and fell asleep. As Macavity lay there watching her, she was dreaming about who her mate would be. In her dream, she saw that the tom was tall and strong, had the warmest smile she had ever seen, and truly would go out of his way to make her happy. For the next two days, she walked around the warehouse with a feeling of happiness, she was relieved to know exactly who her tom would be. Macavity never left her side, hoping that he would be chosen. If he was the one, he promised her that he would change his habits. A week later, Jazzi went to see her father, Growltiger, because he said that he had a very important announcement to make to both her and Alonzo. They had Alonzo meet them at the meeting place where Alonzo and Jazzi would go to relay messages back and forth. When asked if any friends were allowed to come along with them so that she could tell whom she had chosen for a mate, Growltiger said it was fine as long as the other one doesn't get hurt. Macavity, Jazzi, and Growltiger had arrived at the meeting place at about the same time Alonzo and Plato did, but there was a sixth cat there as well. Growltiger then announced to Alonzo and Jasmine...

"You may not remember this queen sitting here, but I do. When Alonzo was two years old, and Jasmine was born, we thought that was all of the kittens your mother was going to have until we saw another kitten beside her. Jasmine, this is your twin sister, Amber. She came from another tribe of Jellicles where she lived with your uncle and wasn't happy with her mate to be, he was always doing too many good things for her, so she left to start a new life here."

Macavity at that time saw the opportunity to introduce himself to Amber and they were a match made in Heavyside. Jazzi then went on to say, "Well, now I don't have to live that monster any more. Plato, I dreamt about you last night and was wondering if you would be my mate which means we could move to the Junkyard if your owners wouldn't mind." Plato jumped and screamed with delight and then said "Sure, I'd love to" and gave her the biggest kiss she had ever had. From that moment on, Plato would sometimes think about Bryn and how much he misses him, but knows that he has a new family to care for. Shortly after they were mated, Jazzi gave birth to a young tom that they named Bryn, after Plato's previous owner.
