Part 2
He noticed that his father was a
little weak and limping a bit. He saw that Jadadaye sort of kept
her balance by holding onto his father's arm. He became
suspicious about the blood he saw on their coats. Genesis waved
his paw in front of his brother's face. Mistostrap immediately
snapped out of it and looked at his brother. Genesis gave him a
weird look and continued to walk.
Soon it was nightfall. They little party camped out in the Forest.
They found hollow trees to sleep in. MistoLusion awoke to Gypsie's
paw stroking her fur. She smiled weakly at him. Gypsie smiled
back. Then he looked around at his companions. Everyone was
hungry, but didn't want to go out in case of Zeperakks or some
other animal. Gypsie didn't want to leave his sister's side.
Munkustrap got up and wandered into the Forest in search of food.
Munkleana went to go after him, but Mistoffelees caught her
before she could follow the tabby. Munkleana whined. She wanted
to go too, but after hearing about the wild animals, she thought
better of it. Jadadaye mentioned the baskets of food. Gypsie told
her that the baskets were for the daytime, and if they ate all
the food, they wouldn't have the food to eat during the day.
Munkustrap soon returned with some sort of dead animal he had
killed. They all ate the animal and retired to bed of dried
leaves in the hollow trees. Jadadaye slept with MistoLusion and
Gypsie, just in case she was needed, and she was their best
friend anyway.
All through the night, the kittens couldn't sleep. They huddled
together. They felt like something was watching them, watching
their every move. Sausratsica and Lazer heard an owl hoot in the
night and shivered. Angel yelped. Mistostrap thought he saw eyes
looking at them from the shadows. He hid his face in Complexity's
fur. RTTagger gasped. He thought he just saw a cat run through
the camp and up a tree. He couldn't quite get what it looked like
because it moved so fast. Mephistolees huddled close to his
brothers and sisters. Munkleana tried to seem brave and tried not
to act scared. But she and her other brothers and sisters
snuggled up in their parent's fur, awakening them. Munkustrap
shook his head and focused his emerald eyes on a little gray and
black ball of fur. Mistoffelees looked down at her kittens that
were snuggled up in her chest shivering. She peeled Angel off her
and gave her a look that said, 'what's wrong now?'
The little white kitten gulped. Zipporah spoke in a rushed tone."Mommywesawacatanditwaslookingatusandthisplaceisreally
scaryanditranacrossthecampandupatreeand
"Mistoffelees
put a finger to the black kitten's lips. Zipporah hushed.
Munkustrap sighed. "Okay Zipporah. Now say that again, this
time slower and in English." The kitten nodded and took a
deep breath. "Okay. We saw a cat and it was staring at us.
It was really creepy and it ran across the camp and up Gypsie's
tree. This place is really spooky." Lazer and the other
kittens nodded in approval. Munkustrap cocked an eyebrow.
Mistoffelees hugged her kittens and told them that everything was
all right and to go back to sleep. She explained that they
probably just saw an animal. The kittens agreed and went back to
sleep.
In the morning, Gypsie and Jadadaye arose and wandered outside.
The red-brown queen breathed in the crisp morning air and smiled
as Mistoffelees sauntered out of her tree. The black and white
queen stretched and smiled back her friend. She waved hi as she
yawned. Munkustrap came out of the tree and smiled at Gypsie and
Jadadaye. Mistoffelees pranced over to them and asked how
MistoLusion was doing. As if on cue, MistoLusion poked her head
out of her sleeping place and smiled. Gypsie scratched her ears.
Mistoffelees smiled approvingly. The longhaired queen rolled her
eyes at her brother. Jadadaye yawned. Munkustrap looked up at the
tree that Gypsie and the others slept in. He didn't see anything
strange like the kittens told him the night before. He shrugged.
Lazer stumbled out and clung onto his father's black leg. He
rubbed his face into the fur and murmured. The gray tabby stroked
the gray head. Lazer looked up at his father's striped face and
whined. "Do we have to walk today? Can't we take a day off
and rest? All of us are tired. We have blisters on our paws,
Daddy. Can we rest today? Please?"
Munkustrap chuckled. "No, no, Lazer. We have to continue on.
We only have three days left to find the Perdicodea, and we can't
waste time resting. I know you're tired. You'll just have to put
up with it."
"But Daddy
"
"No. We can't take a day off as much as we want to, we just
can't."
Lazer groaned. Complexity crawled out and clung onto his father's
other leg. He had a smile on his little face as Mistostrap ran
out and clung onto his father. Mephistolees ran out, jumped up,
and hung onto his father's arm. Soon, all the kittens were on the
gray tabby. Munkustrap lost his balance and fell. He fell to the
ground with a 'thud.' The kittens laughed and giggled. Munkleana
climbed onto the tabby's chest and sat there, looking at him.
Then she turned her head around and smiled at her mother, who had
her paws on her hips, smiling. The little girl tabby put her paws
on the other's head and announced, "I got Daddy!"
Gypsie shook his head. Jadadaye clapped her paws. MistoLusion
sighed. Jadadaye skipped over to the kittens and looked down at
Munkustrap. "Looks like they got ya, Munk."
"Grrrrrr
"
"I taught them well," came Mistoffelees' voice. She did
a little wave with her paw and bowed low. Gypsie smiled. "Let's
venture on. We only have three days left."
~***~
Jadadaye led the group through the Forest. As they walked,
Genesis played with Gypsie's beads and strings. He strung the
string through the beads and made little designs. When he was
finished, he tied the string around his father's black wrist.
Munkustrap looked down and smiled. Mistoffelees held up her wrist.
"He gave me one too, Munk."
"Now I'm all pretty!" Munkustrap examined his wrist.
"Yeah, right. Maybe I should paint your nails."
"Oh, fun!" Munkustrap clapped his paws and jumped up
and down. Gypsie looked over his shoulder.
"Would you paint my nails too, Mistoffelees?"
"I want mine red!"
"I want mine pink!"
"I want a new brother," MistoLusion muttered.
"I want a different mate," Mistoffelees mumbled.
Munkustrap and Gypsie slapped paws and bumped bums. Jadadaye
giggled hysterically. "Hey, those two are cool. If you two
guys don't want 'em, I'll gladly take them!"
MistoLusion and Mistoffelees pushed the two toms forward near
Jadadaye. "Take them!" Jadadaye was surprised.
Munkustrap backed away from her. Gypsie did the same. They glared
at the other giggling females. Jadadaye saw a waterfall and
announced, "We have reached the Reterwar Forest!"
Mistoffelees pulled out the map that the Nuoptelections gave her
and looked at it. "Yep, it's right here. The Reterwar Forest.
Now we have to travel through here and through the Bwelakk Forest
to get to the Welticodia Forest. Right?" Gypsie nodded.
"Right."
They didn't travel far until they came upon a small village. The
houses looked like huts almost. The top was covered in straw and
mud. The walls were wood and mud. Creatures roamed around the
village, selling things and shopping. As the travelers grew
closer, they could see that they wore clothing. It was mostly
dresses, skirts, blouses, and shawls for the women, and the men
wore pants, a vest, and a shirt. Mistostrap whispered to Gypsie.
"What are they?"
"Those are the Reterwar creatures," Gypsie responded.
"They live here."
The Reterware people looked like rats. They had long tails and a
furry fat body. Their noses where long and pointy like a rats'
would be. They had big ears and little paws. But they were
different colors. Some were red, some where yellow. They were
different colors of the rainbow. (I didn't mean for that to rhyme,
it just did.) They're eyes were as big as a kittens' eye. Nobody
knew why they were called the Reterwars, but the creatures liked
the name. A little Reterwar saw one of the kittens and ran away
screaming to his mother. The mother looked at the kitten, which
was Complexity, and snarled. Complexity hid behind his father.
The mother Reterwar neared them. "Who are you and what do
you want?" Her voice was high and squeaky. She drew her
child closer to her. Munkustrap stepped out. When the Reterwar
saw the cat, she stepped back. Gypsie joined him. "We're not
going to hurt you. We were just passing through to get to the
Bwelakk Forest. We're not going to do anything to you."
"You better not," the rat snapped back. She eyed them
then went away. Munkleana stuck her tongue out at her.
MistoLusion hung onto her brother's arm. Gypsie looked down at
her. "Are you okay?"
"My arm hurts, Gyp," was the small response. "And
I feel so weak
"
"It's okay, sis." He took his sister in his arms. He
stepped out of the bushes with the others right behind. They
crossed the village. The Reterwars scattered in all directions as
they passed. Angel admired the village and the way it was made.
She began to hum a tune that she had made up as they passed
through the village. Munkleana kept close to her mother, not
knowing these strange creatures that ran from them. Mistostrap
was just interested on how the Reterwars dressed. The creatures
did not like the newcomers. They ran into their homes and shut
the door. They ran around screaming nonsense at top of their
lungs.
The kittens playfully ran after them. One large Reterwar stomped
out of a house and confronted Gypsie. The black toms looked down
at him. The large Reterwar spoke harshly. "Why are you here?
Get out before we have to call in our army!" Gypsie
apologized. "I'm sorry. We were just passing
through. We'll leave." Munkustrap quickly gathered his
kittens, scolding them just a little for scaring the Reterwars.
The party left the Reterwar Village immediately and descended
into the Bwelakk Forest. MistoLusion was asleep in her brother's
arms. Jadadaye hummed a lively tune to cheer a very gloomy-looking
Gypsie. Gypsie smiled slightly at the tune. He used to dance to
it back in the Ywope Forest with his fellow Gypsies. Angel and
Genesis tugged on their mother's arm. Mistoffelees looked down at
her two kittens.
"Yes?"
"When are we going home?"
"When we find the Perdicodea," she answered.
"When's that?"
"I don't know dear."
Complexity sighed. "I miss Uncle Macavity and Uncle Tugger."
Munkustrap felt a knot in his stomach when Macavity's name was
mentioned. He wondered how he was. And how Tugger was, along with
the rest of the Jellicles. He prayed that Macavity would hold on
a little longer. Just until they return
Back at the Junkyard
Macavity was on Death Row. He wasn't getting any better. He was
just getting sicker and sicker. It was hard for him to breathe
now. His breathing was heavy, yet light, and his temperature was
very high. Many Jellicles thought that Munkustrap and
Mistoffelees wouldn't make it back in time to save him. But the
other Jellicles believed they would. Tugger was restless. He
couldn't sleep without the fear of Macavity dying or Munkustrap
and Mistoffelees not returning. His kittens didn't know what
their father was so stressed about. But Bombalurina told them to
leave him alone. Coricopat and Tantomile conjured up a sleeping
potion to help Tugger sleep and get his mind off all his stress.
It was successful. Tugger slept all day, finally resting
peacefully.
Jennyanydots and Jellyorum tried their best to keep Macavity
alive until Munkustrap and his mate returned. Macavity was still
in a deep coma, with no sign of awaking any time soon. When
Tugger was asleep, Bombalurina decided to see the Hidden Paw. She
silently entered the oven and smiled at Jennyanydots and
Jellyorum as she passed by. She quietly crept into where Macavity
lay, fighting for his life. She sat down at his side and took his
paw in hers. Macavity's limp paw was warm and moist. Bombalurina
sighed. She set his paw back at his side and stroked his face
gently. It was hot and sweaty from the fever. The red queen
listened to the heavy breathing; watching his chest rise then
fall slowly. She felt sorry for him. She had never realized how
much she cared for him until now. "Hold on, Macavity,"
she whispered. "Munkustrap and Mistoffelees will be back
soon. Just hold on
"
"AAAHHHHHHH!!!"
Mistoffelees jumped into her mate's arms. She flung her arms
around his neck and buried her head in his fur. Munkustrap
stumbled backwards. "Wha
?"
"Munkustrap, what is that thing?" Mistoffelees pointed
at a large brown twig, or what seemed to be twig, that was
slithering towards them. Before Munkustrap could answer, Gypsie
pounced on it. He grabbed the snake and flung it into a tree,
killing it. He turned to the frightened black and white magical
queen. "It was just a snake, Mistoffelees."
" 'JUST A SNAKE?!' " Mistoffelees repeated, practically
yelling. Munkustrap winced. "THAT EVIL THING WAS TRYING TO
KILL ME!" Munkustrap set her on her feet. "Stop being
such a queen, Mistoffelees.
"I AM A QUEEN, MUNKUSTRAP!"
Munkustrap covered his ears. "Ow. Well, then stop being such
a kitten." His kittens looked up at him as if he just
insulted them. Munkustrap shook his head. "Okay, I'm just
going to shut up."
"Have fun," Jadadaye chimed. She reached up, bopped him
on the head, then continued to walk. MistoLusion managed a smile.
Mistoffelees calmed down a bit, glad to get all the yelling out
of her. Jadadaye spotted a butterfly sitting on a flower nearby.
Interested, she dropped down on all fours and stalked it. As she
reached the butterfly, it flew away, much to her surprise. She
followed it, jumping around in the air and trying to pounce on it.
Mistoffelees watched with much amusement. Then she rummaged
through her backpack and pulled out a plastic jar filled with
little yellow squares. She smiled and announced, "I have
found some soup nuts! Who wants them?"Jadadaye stopped
stalking her butterfly long enough to repeat, "Soup nuts?
What are those?" Then she went back to chasing the 'pretty
colored flying flower', as she called it. Mistoffelees stopped in
her tracks when Jadadaye asked that. She clutched the jar. "You
don't know what soup nuts are?"
Munkustrap pried the jar out of her paws to look at it. He
flipped it around so he could see the back. He saw some weird
writing that seemed backwards. He gave it back to his mate saying,
"Whatever."
Mistoffelees took it back and opened the jar. As she did this,
she explained. "Soup nuts are things that Rabbinical Cats, a.k.a.,
Jewish Cats, put in their soup to make it taste yummy. Here, try
some, Gyp." She poured out some little yellow squares into
her paw and held it out to Gypsie. Gypsie shook his head and
politely reclined. Mistoffelees offered them to her kittens, who
took them and popped the squares into their mouths. Complexity
loved them. He begged for more. Loraisvia liked the small things
she just ate immediately. Munkustrap was amused by the reactions.
MistoLusion smiled. Jadadaye took some that Mistoffelees offered
her and licked her lips. "Those yellow thingies are yummy."
Mistoffelees was pleased. Soon, the jar was empty. By that time,
the little party was far into the Bwelakk Forest. Then the air
got cold and chilly. Mistoffelees felt sure that someone was
missing. It bugged her for a long time. The others seemed to
notice it too. Just to make sure, Mistoffelees counted her
kittens carefully. All eleven were still there. Jadadaye looked
about her nervously. Gypsie stopped and counted his companions.
Eleven kittens, Jadadaye, MistoLusion, himself, Mistoffelees, and
Munkustrap?
Gypsie was frantic. He kept counting, but Munkustrap was gone!
Mistoffelees must have noticed because she was glancing around,
calling her mate's name.
No response.
Mistoffelees was terrified. She turned as pale as she could, for
her face was already white. She screamed in terror that her mate
was gone. Gypsie did his best to calm her down, but nothing
worked. Jadadaye got down on all fours and searched for a clue to
where Munkustrap had disappeared to. While she was doing this,
MistoLusion was comforting the kittens. Munkleana wailed.
Mistostrap cried, as well as Genesis and Loraisvia. Angel sobbed.
Mephistolees clung to Lazer and called out for his father.
RTTagger and Complexity held back their tears. Zipporah collapsed
onto the ground and wailed. Sausratsica ran and clung to her
mother's legs. Jadadaye spotted some gray hairs on the ground.
She noticed some strange footprints that were in the mud. She
identified them immediately. She quickly rose to her feet and
confronted Gypsie. She whispered low into his ear. She led the
tom to where she saw the footprints. Gypsie kneeled and inspected
them. Mistoffelees and MistoLusion didn't notice.
The black tom got up. He announced, "Thanks to Jadadaye, we
have found where Munkustrap is. She found the footprints of a
Talkla, an animal in this forest. I suggest we follow the prints
because if we don't, we might
never see Munkustrap again."
"WE'RE GONNA FOLLOW IT AND FIND MUNKUSTRAP! I'M GONNA KILL
THOSE STUPID TALKLAS!" Mistoffelees yelled. MistoLusion
covered her ears. "Ohhh, my ears are ringing
"
Gypsie nodded and the group took off in the direction the
footprints went off to. As they descended deeper into the forest,
the darker it became. The kittens huddled close together. Gypsie
warned them to not make a sound, for if they did, anything could
happen and it wouldn't be pretty. Jadadaye kept close watch on
the mother and her kittens by staying in the back. She heard some
rustling nearby and turned around to see what it was.
At the next moment, they heard an ear-piercing scream.
MistoLusion turned around sharply. "Jadadaye?"
No response. Mistoffelees gasped. "Jadadaye's gone!"
Gypsie waved his paws. "Don't fret. We'll find her and
Munkustrap. Don't worry."
"DON'T WORRY?! JADADAYE'S MY BEST FRIEND! WHAT DO YOU MEAN,
'DON'T WORRY?!" MistoLusion screeched. Gypsie clapped a paw
over his sister's mouth to try to prevent the sound, but it was
too late. There was a low rumbling sound, like the sound of
thunder. The earth shook beneath their feet. The sky darkened.
The wind howled. Then a huge creature came swooping down from the
sky. Many others of its kind followed it. It looked like a big
bird, but it wasn't exactly one. It had wings of a bird and the
body of a gargoyle. It had scaly skin that was the color of a
dark green shade. Its head was like a Pollicle's and its tail was
long and black with a point at the end. It had long, sharp claws
that shined in the moonlight.
The monster swooped down and grabbed MistoLusion with its talons.
The queen shrieked. Gypsie pulled out his sword. Mistoffelees
took out a stone that fit in her paws. It was an Emerald. Gypsie
knew what she was doing and pulled out a Ruby from his belt. The
kittens scattered and hid in bushes and trees. MistoLusion called
out to them for help. Mistoffelees raised the Emerald over her
head. The jewel began to glow. Gypsie let go of his Ruby, which
levitated in the air, right in front of the tom. The Ruby began
to glow a bright red color. A Talkla flew down and attempted to
grab Gypsie with its claws. The black tom took hold of his jewel
and a scarlet bolt shot out of it. It hit the creature in the
head. The beast howled with pain. Mistoffelees closed her eyes
and concentrated on her Emerald. From the stone emerged a big
glass-green bolt. It shot the Talkla that was holding MistoLusion.
The creature dropped the queen as it screamed in pain. The
longhaired female fell from the sky. Gypsie caught her in his
strong arms. MistoLusion was as pale as a ghost. The Talklas flew
away, not wanting to deal with them.
Gypsie set his sister down on her feet. Mistoffelees lowered the
Emerald and put it away. The kittens slowly came out of their
hiding places and raced over to their mother. MistoLusion spoke.
"I think I know where Munkustrap and Jadadaye are."
"Where?" Mistoffelees was eager to know.
"I saw a castle not too far from the Bwelakk Forest. I think
we should continue the way we were walking before and find them."
"Good. And we need to find the Perdicodea too."
Mistoffelees gasped. "I totally forgot about the Perdicodea!
Oh, good Heavyside! Come on, let's go!"
In the Bwelakk Forest, there was a
beautiful waterfall. The little group stopped for a brief drink
before starting off again. Then they heard footsteps. Gypsie drew
his sword and kept walking. A large figure stumbled out of a tree.
As it neared them, Mistoffelees gasped. She ran right towards the
figure and hugged it. They heard her cry, "Oh, Munkustrap! I
thought I'd never see you again! Thank the Everlasting Cat you're
alright!"
"I'm here too, Misto."
"Jadadaye! Oh, I'm glad to see you too!"
MistoLusion ran to her friend and embraced her. The kittens
scampered over to their father and hugged him. Munkustrap smiled
and hugged his family. Mistoffelees pulled away and looked at her
mate. He was bruised and all scratched up. Jadadaye was too. The
two Mistos bandaged up the tom and queen. Then they resumed their
journey to find the Perdicodea. As they walked, they passed the
time as Munkustrap and Jadadaye told their friends what had
happened and how they escaped so quickly. After the Talklas took
them to a large castle near the Bwelakk Forest, they met a
beautiful maiden there. She was kind to them. She felt pity for
them. She agreed to let them go if they would do her a favor. She
asked them to dance for her, and that was all. The two, eager to
get back to their friends, did what she asked. When they were
finished, the maiden let them free. She also gave them directions
on how to get back to their friends.
Soon it was dark before they even knew it. They had to find
shelter fast, for it was raining, hard. Gypsie suggested the
trees, but then changed his mind when a lightning bolt shot out
of the sky and set fire to one. The little party ran fast with
kittens on their backs.
They reached an area that had tents set up. They raced into them
to find nobody there. The two parents put down Munkleana,
Mephistolees, and Angel. Knowing that the others had their
kittens and that they were safe, they settled down and fell
asleep.
In the morning, Munkustrap awoke and yawned. He stretched and
wandered out of the tent. The rain had stopped and the sun was
shining bright. Gypsie was already up and out. Munkustrap greeted
his new friend with a smile. Gypsie smiled back. MistoLusion
sauntered out of her tent. She stretched and asked, "What's
for breakfast?"
Munkustrap shrugged. Gypsie told her, "We're gonna eat nice
juicy bugs for breakfast." MistoLusion made a face.
Munkustrap shook his head. "Nah, I'll go get somethin'. Be
right back, y'all." With that, he turned and ran into the
woods. Angel crept out and whimpered with hunger. Zipporah
yawned. "Where's Daddy?"
"He went to get us some food," MistoLusion answered.
Mistoffelees, who just came out of the tent, fell over onto the
wet grass. "Ewwww
the grass is wet." She quickly
got up and shook off. Munkustrap soon returned with some dead
animal. Gypsie snickered. "Munk, you caught a Hald, one of
the many good animals to eat in the Bwelakk Forest."
Munkustrap made a worried face. "Is that good or bad?"
Gypsie laughed. "It's good. That's just fine."
Munkustrap was relived. The little group ate their breakfast,
fast, so they could start off again. As soon as they were
finished, they got up and set off for the Welticodia Forest. They
didn't walk far before Gypsie stopped abruptly. MistoLusion and
Jadadaye looked around. The longhaired tom took out a silver
whistle. It had dragons engraved on the sides. He blew on the
whistle and waited. Munkustrap gave Mistoffelees a side ways
glance. The queen shrugged. Soon, they heard the flapping of
wings beating against the air. A large magenta dragon came flying
down from the sky. It had large yellow eyes and big, sharp claws.
The creature landed in front of the Gypsy tom. Gypsie walked two
steps to it and rubbed the large head. He turned to them and said,
"This is my dragon, Moonfire. Some of us will ride on him,
and the others will ride on Jada's or MistoLusion's dragons.
Munkustrap, you and five of your kittens come with me."
Munkustrap chose five kittens and jumped up onto the dragons'
back with Gypsie. Jadadaye took out her silver whistle and a
green dragon swooped down from the sky. Then MistoLusion blew her
whistle and a white dragon flew down. Mistoffelees and two of her
kittens went with MistoLusion and her dragon, Daylight. The other
two kittens went with Jadadaye and her dragon, Sophgania. Gypsie
nodded his approval and ordered Moonfire to fly off. The magenta
creature obeyed and flew up into the sky. Daylight and
Sophgania followed behind Moonfire. The two were soon side by
side with Gypsie's dragon. Mistoffelees waved to her mate from
where she was on Daylight's back. Munkustrap waved back. Gypsie
explained that if they rode on the dragon that they would get to
the Welticodia Forest faster.
Loraisvia and Angel were singing and having a good time with
Jadadaye. They liked to look down at the world below them and
watch as the clouds drifted by. Jadadaye smiled and petted her
pet dragon. MistoLusion was doing some weird paw movements as
Mistoffelees made sound affects for the trip. Mistostrap giggled
at his mother. Zipporah copied the longhaired double of her mom.
Lazer did the hand jive. Munkustrap rolled his eyes. Complexity
and RTTagger played with each other's hair.
Gypsie smiled and ordered Moonfire to lower to the ground.
Daylight and Emerald followed Moonfire's movements. When they
landed, the cats got off and talked merrily about the ride.
Gypsie silenced them and announced, "We have reached the
Welticodia Forest where the Perdicodea grows right here." He
pointed at a beautiful blue-green plant that grew under a willow
tree. It had long leaves and breath-taking flowers that covered
it. Mistoffelees slowly walked to the plant and fell to her knees.
She carefully plucked three blue-green flowers and five leaves
from the ground. She stood up and admired the beauty. She turned
around and smiled. "Now we can return home and save Macavity's
life."
When they returned to the Gypsy
Camp where they first met Gypsie, Jadadaye, and MistoLusion, the
adults were sad to leave them. Gypsie wanted to accompany them
back to the Junkyard and see Tugger again. Jadadaye whispered
something in the tom's ear. Gypsie smiled and nodded. "We
have decided to return with you. That is, if you're not sick of
us already."
Mistoffelees laughed. "Of course you guys can come."
Munkustrap nodded. The kittens cheered. Gypsie put Radius in
charge of the Gypsies, and they set off to the Jellicle Junkyard.
On the way back, Munkustrap and Mistoffelees warned them what to
expect when they return. The sun was
setting as they left the Ywope Forest and into the Nuopteleshun
Forest. They ran the rest of the way, not wanting to deal with
the Nuopteleshuns. They carefully crossed the bridge and ventured
onward to the Junkyard. It
was nightfall when they small group emerged from the forest,
crossed the street, and went into the Junkyard.
Mistoffelees ran all the way to the proper where everyone was
waiting. The first one to notice them was Coricopat and Tantomile.
They sniffed the air and smiled in unison. "They have
returned
" As if on cue, Mistoffelees burst into the
proper with Munkustrap and the kittens right behind. The
Jellicles greeted them with hugs and kisses. Tugger was more than
thrilled to see Munkustrap again. He hugged him tightly and
nuzzled his hello. Munkustrap gasped for air. Tugger's kittens
watched their mother and father with wide eyes. The other eleven
kittens hid behind their parents and peeked out from behind them
at the others. Munkustrap smiled at the Maine Coon and said,
"Tugger, we have a surprise for you." Tugger cocked his
head. Gypsie emerged from the shadows. He smiled at his brother
and whispered, "Hi, Tugger."
The Rum Tum Tugger gave a cry of delight and surprise. He ran and
embraced the longhaired black tom. Bombalurina gasped. Gypsie and
Tugger were the same height. Gypsie and Tugger did a little Gypsy
dance of greeting. They seemed proud of their little dance. When
they were finished, MistoLusion and Jadadaye snuck up behind
Tugger and surprised him. The Maine Coon whirled around and
hugged the queens. Jadadaye looked around at the cats that
surrounded her. Mistoffelees took out the leather pouch that she
kept the Perdicodea in and showed it to the Tribe. Then she went
into the oven to save Macavity's life. She hoped that she wasn't
too late. When she saw Macavity lying on the blankets looking
miserable, she couldn't help but cry. She kneeled down at the
ginger's side and rubbed his arm. She took out the plants and a
small bowl with a thick wooden stick. She put in one flower and
three leaves. She mashed them together with the stick so it would
become liquid. Munkustrap appeared in the little room and looked
down at Macavity's body.
