Steve Fox

Steve Fox has a degree in Music Composition from Illinois State University, where he studied composition with Dr. Roque Cordero, conducting with Dr. Stephen Steele and Dan Farris, piano with Gellert Modos, and trombone with Dr. Stephen Parsons. During the time that Steve was attending Illinois State, and immediately after, he co-founded and was the Assistant Conductor for the Illegitimate Symphony Orchestra.This 60-piece orchestra performed 3 highly successful pops concerts before Steve moved to Los Angeles and attended the University of Southern California, where he received an Advanced Studies Certificate in Film and Television Scoring. While attending USC Steve had the opportunity to conduct and record some of his music at Paramount Studios “Stage M”, and at Skywalker Sound.Some of the professionals that Steve studied under were David Raksin, Elmer Bernstein, Christopher Young, Jack Smalley, Joe Harnell, David Spear, Ed Kalnins, Richard Bellis, and Jon Burlingame.

Steve has composed, orchestrated, synthestrated, and conducted many film shorts, some of which have been placed on the Internet, and one which was aired on television (“The Artist” was aired on The Independent Film Channel and can be seen at www.ifilm.com. Recently, Steve completed the score to Iron Horse Entertainment’s “Children of the Road”, and is about to begin work on “Red Moon Rising”. Steve is also the Music Director for the Lakewood Civic Light Opera, where he has directed three musicals. One of these, “The Thief of Bagdad”, Steve and songwriter Joni Ward created original songs to go along with Jeff Hathcock’s play adaptation. Steve is also the Music Director and Conductor for the Torrance Area Youth Band.
