MCP will present the perennial favorite, Pirates of Penzance, under the mentorship of Lennie Eichman with youth apprentice director Hamish Strong. Hamish, in the past, has co-directed MCP's children's program production of Who Pushed Humpty Dumpty, taught theater for children at the UMA Bath Brunswick Center, and has worked as an assistant in The Theatre Project's summer day camp. In addition Hamish has performed with MCP as Hilarion in Princess Ida, Strephon in Iolanthe, Proteus in Two Gentlemen of Verona and Tony in The Boy Friend. At Mt. Ararat High School Hamish has portrayed Pippin in Pippin, Frederick in Pirates of Penzance, Dimetrius in Midsummer Night's Dream, Reverend in The Crucible, The Scarecrow in The Wiz, and Prince Simon in The Ugly Duckling. Hamish is currently studying and teaching in Cumbaya, Ecuador. His duties include English as a Second Language, co-teaching art, founder of the art club, and assistant to the development of a theater Program, grades K-12. Hamish will study at Bard College on his return from Ecuador.
Lennie is currently artistic director of Mt. Ararat High School's Stage Company after 20 years of teaching French, English, drama and Alternative Education at the high school level. MASC production under her direction have been, Four Baboons Adoring the Sun, The Wiz, The Ugly Duckling, Frankenstein Slept Here, Scheherazade, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, Unhappily Ever After, and the current show in production, Crazy For You. As artistic mentor since the inception of the youth program in 1998, Lennie has co-directed Iolanthe and The Boyfriend with Rachel Prescott, and Two Gentlemen of Verona with Sean Drumm. In addition to artistic, the youth show offers technical, costuming, musical, lighting, choreographic, and stage management appreniceships.
