The newsies were the "distribution apparatus" for the newspaper giants of New York. Everyday, they went to Newsies Square and bought their papes to sell for the day. To make more money, one of the newspaper giants, Joseph Pulitzer, decides to up the price of the paper. Now the newsies had to pay 60 cents for 100 papes instead of 50 cents. That may not seem like much, but in 1899, that amount of money given daily could make or break a newsie. So, Jack Kelly, a respected newsie, organizes a strike. I won't tell you anymore because that would spoil it! But I will tell you that it's an awesome movie. The singing and dancing is really great (and I should know, I'm a dancer)! So, go rent it to find out what happens!!!
