Marta Von Trapp, Debbie Turner:

Marta is the sixth Von Trapp child, nearly seven years old. I love her for the following reasons:

Her favourite note: Re
You can hear her saying: "I'm Marta and I'm going to be seven on Tuesday and I'd like a pink parasol!" "Why don't we ever get to see the Baroness?" "Why does it do that?" "The lightening must be nasty!" "Then why does the thunder get so angry? It makes me want to cry!" "What are we going to do?" "I hate to go and leave this pretty sight!" "I don't feel like singing!" "She's our governess!" "We just told you father. We were berry picking!" "The least they could have done was to let us say hello." "We missed you!" "Maybe the flag with the black spider on it makes people nervous!" "I'm scared!"

ABOUT DEBBIE TURNER

Debbie was born on September the 5th, 1956 in Arcadia of Los Angeles. Before 'The Sound of Music,' she was involved in numerous commercials and advertisements. Charmian Carr recalled this experience as useful to Debbie who somehow managed to remember not only her own lines but also those of everyone else and was available to prompt them when needed! Debbie has two older sisters, Michele who works as a commercial and television actress in Utah and Patricia who has appeared in a few films and television series. Debbie also has a younger brother Kel who doesn't act. She tested for 'The Sound of Music' on February 7th, 1964, and the producers thought she was so adorable, signing her on almost immediately after she sang 'Do-Re-Mi' and did a screen test of the 'My Favourite Things,' scene. Her sister Michele also tried out for the part of Brigitta but it was instead given to Angela Cartwright.

After graduating from college in California she worked in a ski resort where she met her husband Rick Larson. They married in 1980. She became a skier and in college Debbie was the west coast ski racing champion.

Debbie now lives in a suburban of Minnesota and has four daughters, Brooke, Jamie, Angela and Kate. She is a freelance floral designer and owns an upscale wedding, floral and wreath business called 'The Vinery'. Debbie visited The Von Trapp Lodge in Vermont in 1999. She design collectible Santa Claus Dolls which can be purchased online through her web-site Debbie Turner Originals
