Like the GCSE Music course, A Level Music also focuses on Performance, Listening and Composition. the course is split in half - AS & A2. AS is studied in Year 13 and A2 is studied in Year 14. Each contributes 50% towards the final grade. | There are 3 modules. Module 1 is Core Composition, with an additional option, for example Research Study of a genre of music, or performance on a second instrument. Module 2 is Core Performance, with an additional option, for example Ensemble Performance. Each core element contributes 12% out of 50%, and each option is worth 4%. Module 3 is General Listening, Setwork and Study of 3 Composers. Module 3 totals 18% out of 50%. | |
Each
practice room, as you can see from the photographs, has its own piano,
and enables use of other instruments, for example guitar, violin, flute,
drums and vocal rehearsals.
Last year, the department achieved 100% Grade A-C at AS/A2 Level, which is a record for the department and the school. |
