The Girl Behind DemeterWa ha ha! This is all me, Demeter! So there! Oh, one more thing. Don't worry I'll get a better, more recent picture! Yes, this page does go on forever. Just proves how bored I get. |
Me
My real name is Kerri and I was born on September 27, 1985 in New Jersey, but I am currently living in the Black Hole..err..Illinois. I am the youngest of two retarded brothers and one groovy sister. I am ugly but if you want to know I am 5'2 (I shrink)and I have eyes that are most of the time green but change colors and usually end up matching my clothes. I have light brown hair (soon to be jet black!) and I'm so pale that if you shined a light on me I would blind you! My human nicknames are Little Baby Kerri, Kerri P' Terrie, Kerricopat(cat name too), SPED, Booka, Booka Penis (please don't ask), and BATMAN! WAZ UP?!?! My cat names are Demeter (duh), Mistypuff, Jezzta, and Vera. My favorite movies are Edward Scissor Hands, Never Ending Story, both of the Mortal Kombat movies, Wedding Singer, Sixth Sense, etc. My favorite shows are Caroline in the City (hmm.. Iwonder why!), Sailor Moon, DBZ, and Pokemon(yes, it's true). My favorite musicals are CATS (no kidding!) Rocky Horror Picture Show, Starlight Express, Les Miserables, Rent, Phantom of the Opera, Miss Siagon, Song and Dance, The Secret Garden, etc. etc. etc. I hate horror movies and just about every theme park ride you can imagine! You want to know how scared of creepy movies I am? One time my sister got me to start watching Stir of Echoes and the second I saw the pin in his hand I ran out of the room screaming and locked myself in my room for the rest of the night shaking! See if you could beat that! Take me near Six Flags and die!!! I am obsessed with my tape recorder and I tape anything and everthing, like some screaming noises from Scooby Doo that we'll be using to make The Pouncival Project! Why? I have no idea! I am very shy but once you get to know me I am quite a cheeky bugger >^_^< In school I am usually quiet(Probably cuz none of my friends are on my team) and I don't like it there at all! I wish one of these stupid tornadoes that we get all the time would hit the school instead of peoples' houses! Well, at least next year I'll be going to the same highschool that Anthony Rapp and John Barrowman graduated from!!! WA HA HA!!! Emeow me if you wanna know what I'm talking about. Anyway, I have lots o' pets and their pics will be up soon. My favorite things to do are basically anything that has to do with CATS (especially costuming!), videogames, dancing, singing, drawing, making things, some mo' stuff. Ok, you want to know the truth about me? I am a SUPERHERO! My name is Shocktart Girl, I have pink and green streaked hair, I can fly, I like Shocktarts, and I steal peoples' pants! Hmmm...maybe I'm a villain then? Well anyway, I am also Super Kitty! I have a gold cape (that has now been cut up and needs to be fixed), I can also fly, and that's about it! Thanks to.... |
CATS and MeCATS has been in my life for a very long time but I only really started to notice the musical in 1998. I was watching TV and I changed the channel to PBS and saw what looked like two cats standing alone. The taller cat left and only the gold cat stayed to sing about and evil cat she called Macavity. From the moment I saw this small cat I fell in love with her character. That cat is Demeter. I began to love CATS more and more and I got a very special gift that Christmas from my Aunt Heather. It was the CATS video! I watched thevideo everyday and memorized all the lyrics and dances to each song. Eventually my friend, Ashley, got tickets to see CATS on tour and it was awesome!!! It was then that I was determined to learn everything I could about CATS and be in the musical on Broadway. Cassandra went the day after we did and got a picture with the cast (grumbles). When Monday came Cass and I wore our new CATS shirts to school (I had to change into my CATS shirt in school cuz it was still wet in the morning). Our friend, Kyra, (we hadn't really seen her in a while cuz she was on the other team) saw our shirts and told us that she had seen CATSthe same day I had and that her dance teacher played Mungojerrie!!! I think I might have screamed or fallen over or something like that, but I couldn't stop thinking about CATS for the restof the day. School wasalmost over and Cass and I made a promise to go into CATS training in the summer butunfortunately during the last two weeks of school I became very ill with a rare disease that sounds like a brand of beer (Miller Fisher Syndrome). That week in the hospital was the scariest time in my life!!! I had double vision and had to wear an eyepatch (arrg, I'm Growltiger!), I was paralizing and couldn't walk, and I had so many !#*$@!* needles that I'm now scarred for life. I hate needles, they really scare me (especially when you get one in the back!)! Eventually I got better and left the hospital but still had to wear the eyepatch (Growltiger was a bravo cat...) and was made fun of in public (has a list of people to kill!). I started going to every CATS website I could fin and started doing kinda my own research on the musical and learned quite a lot! Well, we really did go into CATS training by singing and dancing to CATS everyday at about 3:00AM! I started thinking about making a CATS costume but I didn't know how so I went searching on the internet and found tons of costuming pages! Thus my first Demeter costume was born! Thus my sencond Demeter costume was born too! Everyday I dreamt about being in CATS on Broadway and I was happy with this dream cuz I had evrything planned out but then last Februaury I found out that CATS is leaving Broadway June 25. I cried when I found this out and I still do for my dream has been shattered. I still love CATS as much as before I found out the sad news and I know that there's other casts to see and be in. CATS has truely changed my life. It will remain "Now and Forever" dancing in my heart. |
My DancinessI started dance when I was about 3 but I quit when I was 5 because I went to a bad dance school and didn't like it there. I started dance again this year at a semi professional school with a very good reputation. Cassandra and I took summer jazz classes at Midwest Dance Company (which was kinda a pain to do while still wearing the eyepatch) and fell in love with dancing. We signed up for ballet and jazz for the fall and couldn't wait for classes to begin. On August 18 my good friend, Merideth, invited my family and I to see her performance from a summer workshop at Von Heideke's Chicago Festival Ballet and it was amazing! It was like seeing a real professional ballet! Actually, I guess you could say it was a professional ballet! If you don't believe me see their tour of "The Nutcracker!" I begged my mum to let me join Von Heideke's before it was too late and she never got around to calling. Classes started at Midwest and we were having a jolly good time there when October flew in and there was going to be auditions for Von Heideke's "The Nutcracker" and somehow Merideth and her mom got me into going even though I had only been to 4 out of 4 classes that year! I was so nervous at the audition like running out of the Rialto Theater at first, but amazing as it seems I got a part! It was probably the smallest part anyone could ever get, but I got a part! I was and angel! Well, the performance was fun and I was doing better at Midwest Dance Company but I couldn't stop thinking about Von Heideke's and how awesome it was and my friend, Kyra, goes there too and always talks about it so finally last February my mummy called the school and found out some info about it there and said that I couldn't go til after I'm confirmed because I would be going 4 times a week. Then she said to wait til the summer cuz we had already paid for costumes at Midwest and Von Heideke's is not too expensive for a good school but let's just leave it at that! You know what though? I don't think there's any summer classes there! I think there's just that workshop that you probably have to audition for! ::Runs in circles screaming:: Oh, I'm so confused! Anyway, classes are fun at Midwest and for production("It's not a recital, it's a production. It's like going to see a show in 'Chicago."-Miss Kristi) we're doing "Crazy Cool" for jazz and we're basically supposed to be ice. For ballet we're doing "Snow" from "The Nutcracker!" What a coincidence! I get to snow and ice! I think they planned this cuz I'm so pale! I'm gonna blend in with the stupid costumes! ARRGG! Ok, I'll shut up and leave you be now. |
