When I first gained regular access to the Internet, one of the first things I did was go looking for sites dedicated to musicals. The first one I found was Musicals.Net. Listed there was the musical, 'CATS'. I've always liked our feline companions, so I was intrigued. I took a look, thought, That's nice, and went on my merry way.
Wait, there's more. I spent a weekend at my aunt and uncle's house. I found out my aunt had a copy of the Broadway recording of 'CATS' and she let me listen to it. I was hooked. The next time I went to the local library, I borrowed a copy of the movie and watched it. The hooks sunk deeper. I admit it, I made a copy of the tape before I took back to the library. Don't worry, my younger sister, Danielle, gave me the movie for Christmas that year, so the illegal copy is gone.
On September 16, 2001, Danielle and I saw 'CATS' live. I was so excited. The whole show, I just watched, trying to see everything that was going on. There's a link to an in-depth trip report down below.
I found out that the London production of CATS, after a 21-year, record-breaking run, is closing on May 11.
