Information on how to become a Camp Counselor

COUNSELORS WANTED !!!,
We need you and your energy! Please share the word with other people who could serve as counselors. We would especially like to see pastors from Minnesota and South Dakota become counselors. We have learned that when pastors get involved in camp, so do many other adults & young people.
Camp Minneboji has consecrated Christian counselors interested in Christian ministry and Christ-centered relationships with boys & girls, who devote their time and talents for the camp week. The staff and counselors recieve no pay. However, their room and board is paid for them out of the total operational expenses. Pastors & other professional church workers from Minnesota & South Dakota lead the camp activities as members of the camp staff. For more information on becoming a camp counselor or to recieve a counselors application, contact the camp dean.
Contact information is available HERE.

Dean's Letter to potential counselors

It's only a few months until Camp Minneboji for this year! And we hope that you will consider being a part of the wonderful group of counselors this year.
We anticipate that over 300 children in grades 4-8 will attend (with another 40 or so in 9th grade "Honors Camp"). For more information on camp dates, location, & theme, please see the main page.
Please consider being a cabin counselor this year. While there is no pay for being a counselor, this unique opportunity to serve the Lord by serving the children creates meaningful bonds between you and the kids and between you and fellow counselors and staff. Your filling out a counselor application will be the first step in the selection process. You must fill out the application if you wish to be considered as a counselor. A form will be mailed to you after I hear from you, indicating that you do wish to serve. Please respond to this request by e-mail, regular mail, or phone ASAP, but certainly by April 1st.
Cabin counselors for grades 4-8 are responsible for about 10 children each, and you are teamed with another counselor. Sometime in May, a Counselor Guideline booklet is sent to those who have been chosen to be counselors. This booklet will answer your questions about specific counselor responsibilities.
We will again be offering a longer, more in-depth Counselor Training Session on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at Faith Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls, from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. I will inform you more about this session if you apply to be a counselor and are selected. But at this time, please be informed that this session is planned and that you are HIGHLY encouraged to attend. I don't know that I can mandate attendance, since the many responsibilities of life don't permit us to be in two places at once! But the session will be very helpful in your service as a servant of God and the young people committed to your care.
Counselors are asked to report to camp on Sunday, in time for the 1:30p.m. "Counselor Detail Meeting," which takes place in the camp "headquarters" for our week in the cabin Baumann. Children begin arriving at about 3 p.m. for registration. Camp ends with devotions at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Again, thanks for considering service as a counselor. And please contact me soon, if you would like a counselor application form.
God's PEACE and JOY to you!
