Review:
It is said here that Lord Of The Flies has many different Themes,
but that the most important one of all is that;
"the conditions of life within society are closely related to
the integrity of its individual members."
This section then goes on to discuss how it seems to be Golding's
intention to show that an ethical nature is not inherent in mankind. Symbolism in the
Novel part 1, identifies the most recurrent symbols which appear in the novel, while part
2 goes on to explain these symbols and their meanings in greater depth. There are initial
Character Summaries which give BASIC background information on each character, followed by
Character Information which is much more DETAILED and which describes each character's
physical characteristics and their involvement or the importance of their role to the
action of the novel. A useful feature of this site is that it then goes on to indicate a
series of appropriate Quotations which relate to each Character so that pupils can locate
these in their own copies of the text and use them when writing about any particular
character. Finally there is the Novel Summary and Chapter Significance in which each
chapter is summarised in turn and then its significance to the novel as a whole is
explained. |
