This is the Outta Ray's Head website, which contains suggestions for a number of English Literature lessons, and two of these are based on Lord of The Flies. The first is the Semi-independent Novel Study. This takes the form of three assignments and the outline and suggested timescale for each is provided. The first is based only on the first few chapters and asks pupils to trace the devolution of the boys' society through the first part of the novel. The second assignment allows pupils to respond to the ideas that Golding presents, in the manner of their own choice. They may produce a written, oral or pictorial presentation on one of a list of suggested ideas. The third assignment is an essay question. Pupils are given a list of very broad essay topics and are expected to chooses one and narrow it down to a thesis of their own. In each case, the assignment is broken down and explained in much more detail than I have given here. The next part of this site relating to Lord Of The Flies, is the LOTF Question Sheets and Answers. This is an extensive series of worksheets with questions on each chapter. Some are questions on the events within that chapter, others may ask pupils to identify the speaker of a given quotation and explain its context.
