MICHAEL SYLVESTER RODRIGUEZ

Mikey as we all called him was very
loved by everyone that knew him.
At first I wanted to wait to give
the news but my husband told everyone
that crossed his path.
He was very exited like if this
were going to be his first born.
We found out soon after that it was a boy.
When my only daughter Jessica found out
she started crying because she wanted a sister.
To make her feel better we asked her
to pick the baby's name.
She wrote tons and tons of names
and asked everyday if we were ready
to go buy the baby in the store
(we told her that parents usually
buy all babies at a store).

On August 26, 1996, we went to a
local kids entertainment place.
We had been there around 10 minutes
when an unknown kid that was running
bumped into my stomach and my water broke.
That afternoon I delivered a beautiful
and healthy baby boy and my daughter
picked the name Michael.
I decide to add the second name
Sylvester after my dad.
I stayed at home to care for my child
until he started his pre-k classes.

Everything was perfect until June 13, 2003.
My son passed away in a car accident.
He was declared brain dead and
his heart later stopped beating.
Our life has changed forever.
We miss Mikey very much but we have
hope and faith in the Lord that we will
meet again one day.

Michael's organs were donated to
the Childrens Hospital in Houston, Tx.

I REMEMBER YOU

POEM: Written and read by Michael's mom on his 7th birthdate 08/26/03.
Read on Michael's grave with family and friends.

I Remember You.....
Today on earth you would be seven,
Who ever said, you wouldn't be, up in heaven.

I Remember You.....
Although you were with us for only 6 short years,
I can still hear your laughter, and yes, I even see your tears.
Spoiled at times, many times, But music to my ears.

I Remember You.....
Everyday at home you were, standing at the door.
There you were with floaties on, "Dad, take me to the pool".

I Remember You.....
A Fireman you'd ultimately become, to save a life in pain.
My little man, it was more than one,
We made sure your life did not end in vain.

I Remember You.....
You had a role model of who you wanted to be,
you looked up to Albert, "Mom, he's looking just like me".
He was your role model, like him you desired to be,
"Mom, he seems so tall, when he's looking down at me".

I Remember You.....
"Cooool, Dad is Outside!"
"He's on the 4-wheeler," "We're going for a ride".

I Remember You.....
"I want to go swimming," But I don't know how,"
"Here comes my brother Johnny, He'll teach me how!"

I Remember You.....
"Jessica is my very best, best sister, I love her alot,"
"I don't seem to have a choice, She's the only one I got".

I Remember You.....
"I don't want my room, or a bed of any kind,"
"I fit well between you two, plus I don't think ya'll mind."

I Remember You.....
"Mom, Dad; I'll never choose between you two,"
"To me you're both the best".
"Mom and Dad, you're both so good,"
"Ask that question to the rest."

I Remember You.....
No farewell words were spoken, No time to say good bye.
You were gone before we knew it, Son, only God knows why.
