Causes of Death
The following are some of the more "common" causes of death in hamsters and other small mammals, though some might not sound common at all. I include this list so owners can be more aware of accidents that are life threatening and other causes of death.
- Fall from height
- Squeezed to death
- Stepped on
- Fought with another hamster
- Wet-tail
- Old age
- Drowned in toilet/other water sources
- Injury from other pets
- Tumours/cancer
- wheel accidents (I have seen them happen)
- shock
- internal bleeding if they get beat up badly
- using cedar
- strokes
- heart attacks
- heatstroke
