With The Harmonica
And With The Lie
Joseph Zelinkowski & The
Akiba Zionist Mouvement
Joseph (Jo'zek) Zelinkowski
1901 - 1990
Joseph Zelinkowski was a Zionist
activist who recruited new members into the Hebrew Youth organization
Akiba(1) by the thousands. He traveled all
over Poland promoting the Zionist ideology and in 1933 became a
member of the Akiba leadership committee. At the end of 1933 Joseph
immigrated to Palestine but the Akiba leadership called him to return
back to Poland and to continue his activity. He kept up his public
activity in Poland until the breakout of WWII and barely managed
to leave on his way to Palestine (Israel). Joseph settled in a Kibbutz,
here he got married and raised his three children. In Israel, Joseph
lived to the age of 90. He remained active in public life almost
until his last day. Joseph Zelinkowski was my father and I dedicate
this page to him. In addition to his life story, the reader will
be able to learn about the evolution of the Akiba Zionist Movement
and the relations among different Jewish organizations in Poland
prior to WWII. Also you will be able to learn about the struggle
of the Jewish pioneers in Palestine.
