The family was given the news that Eddie was missing. It is said within the family that his mother Estella had a dream the week before and knew something "bad" was going to happen. The war department called on Christmas Eve and the following story ran in the "Washington Star"
Days later, the War Department called saying "Uncle Eddie" was found. It was not so. A horrible mistake of mis-information. Eddie & Crew are still MIA.
