Dr. Meredith and Commissioner Gordon stood in the middle of East Broadway. The neon lights of the seedy area shine upon them.
"Dr. Meredith what a surprise!", Commissioner Gordon, "you shouldn't be here though, it isn't safe!"
"Relax Jimmy, I'll be fine. I was concerned when you canceled. That's unlike you", she said. She had been calling him Jimmy for the last few weeks. It helped establish his role in their relationship.
"I wouldn't have canceled if it wasn't a major

emergency. I love our sessions. They are the highlight of my week."
"I know they are Jimmy. I knew it must be very important for you to cancel on me."
"I've been practicing my self trances like you asked though. In fact I've only had your tape a week, and I've almost worn it out!"
"That's good Jimmy, what is going on here?", Chase asked, getting to the point of her visit.
"Two-Face has the top floor of that building held hostage.", Gordon said.
"What is your plan of attack?", Chase asked.

"I've sent the swat team into position, and given an order to take a clean shot if one becomes available. I also lit the bat-signal. Hopefully Batman will come and we won't even have to send our boys in. Does that sound like a good plan Doctor?", replied Gordon. He wasn't asking her sarcastically. He wanted her opinion. Actually, more to the point, he wanted her approval.
It had been weeks since Gordon's first session. He had inevitably been hypnotized. Against his will at first, but then he grew to love it, to need it. Like others who had gone this deep for her, Gordon now craved Chase's approval like a drug.
"That sounds fine", Chase told him. The entire crowd then gasped and pointed to the sky. Chase and the Commissioner looked up as well. That is when Chase got her first up close look at him. He was magnificent. Swinging through the air like a trained acrobat. It was unclear where the wires where he was swinging from were attached. It was also unclear if it was necessary to do all the acrobatics he was performing, or if he was putting on a little show for the crowd. Chase figured the latter. It helped create his mystique. That mystique was definitely making an impression on Chase.
Gordon noticed Chase's admiring looks. They made him unhappy to see Batman, in a jealous sort of way.
"I can introduce you if you would like", Gordon offered. The need to please her overcoming his own insecurities.
"Not now Jimmy, he must be very busy", Chase said. She wasn't ready. She had come downtown to see him in action, to observe him. She knew how to play her game, in fact no one was better. Her beauty was staggering, that had been proven time and time again. The potency of a man experiencing

that beauty for the first time was a force that should not be wasted. That was only a contributing factor though. The real reason was that when she went to capture the big prize, she would only get one chance. It had to be perfect. She had to be prepared.

Prepared or not, he landed right in front of her face.
"Two-Face?", he said to the Commissioner. There was no greeting, no "how are you".
"It is the eighth attack since his break from Arkham. He's crippling the city with fear.", Gordon told the

Caped Crusader, restating the obvious. It was meant to be a bit of a shot, no doubt inspired by the jealousy of a moment ago.
"What's the situation tonight?", Batman asked. This is what he meant with his last question. He always tried to use as few words as possible.
"He has eight hostages on the eighty-eighth floor", I have the swat team ready to go, unless you have a better idea...", Gordon said, knowing Batman did.
"Tell your men to hold. I'll handle this.", Batman said. He hoped he would be able to put an end to this Two-Face situation tonight. It had been a hard

month for the Dark Knight. Two-Face was running him ragged, and there was the ongoing battle with Dick. Batman could have used his partner right about now.
Chase stared at Batman in amazement, looking him up and down. He was fascinating. Both physically and emotionally. As he prepared to grapple his way up eighty-eight floors, he glanced in her direction quickly. She noticed his furtive glance. He held it for longer than he should have, illustrating that he found her attractive. She was encouraged by that. The glance proved to be quite tantalizing though.

It was much shorter than any other look she had ever received from a man. Normally, a man would forget what he was doing, or at least stumble about like a fool. Batman looked at her so quickly, it was if he was just seeing if he knew who she was. It made her shot at the big prize all the more challenging. She liked a challenge.
"Jimmy, I want you to come to me tomorrow morning. Come around nine.", she said. It was time to start mobilizing a plan.
"I'm afraid I can't Doctor. The Mayor's weekly strategy meeting is tomorrow at nine.", he cringed.
"I don't care. Come at nine as I have instructed Jimmy. Do as I say", Chase said flatly. She never looked back to make sure he was ready to comply. She was too fascinated by watching Batman grapple up the building. He was so powerful. Chase was very attracted to the dark, mysterious hero. Her plan of attack was already forming. He was a man of action. Swift, aggresive action. If an enemy was to defeat him, they would need to strike first and strike hard. Their first blow would need to be the finishing blow. This is how Chase planned to stage her attack, but first she needed to know more.
