Ghealdan and Amadicia
Luckily for you, this will be a fairly short lesson, because Ghealdan and Amadicia, our nations of study for today, are pretty little-known nations, but ones with a fair bit of trouble. Pulling out our maps (http://www.blacktower.net/map.htm) we see that Ghealdan is between Amadicia and Altara, with its back to Garen’s Wall. Its capital is Jehannah. The Ghealdanin have always been wary of strangers, and this shows in the way their towns and cities are built. Ghealdanin towns are walled in, containing buildings of stone with slate roofing. Ghealdan used to be a quiet and self-sufficient nation, with a fairly good ruler, but following the course of the books, Ghealdan is now under the Prophet of the Dragon’s tyranny. Not a very happy place anymore. Anyways, all that is really known about the clothing is that men’s coats are fastened with a double row of wooden buttons. *shrugs* A nation RJ hasn’t touched too much on.
Amadicia is a nation south of the Mountains of Mist, between Tarabon and Altara. Amadicia is the home of the Children of the Light, most gathered in the capital of Amador. Aes Sedai and all channeling is outlawed in Amadicia, and any woman who has ever trained in the Tower is to be turned over to the army, or worse, to the Children of the Light, who happen to have their Fortress of Light in Amador. The King of Amadicia and the Children of the Light do not get along well at all, creating much politic strife through the country.
Of the people, the ladies have long and very curly hair. They wear deep bonnets that hide their faces and are decorated with big velvet bows. Their dresses also have bows on them. The men wear very colourful coats that go down to their knees But that’s about all the information I can really give you. Another one RJ hasn’t really touched on much. But, because this lesson was so darn short, your homework assignment is a little longer. I’d like you to do research on the Children of the Light. Tell me about their politics, their palace, their influences and policies, how they fight, what they wear, etc. In other words, write me a lesson all about the CoL.
