Out of the Darkness ~ Into the SonOne night as I lay sleeping, he crept into my dreams filled with hopes to snare me with his wicked schemes His eyes were filled with fury though the words he spoke were sweet and as he prowled around me, I recoiled from the heat He paralyzed with terror and the pain of past behavior acts of sin he claimed would surely keep me from my Saviour He then reached out to grab me and I felt my knees grow weak, I shouted "In the name of..." But he screamed, "WAIT! Let me speak!" |

"Come and let me show you all the bounty of MY feast."
As he spoke desire woke, and I walked beside the beast..... |

Whose mocking lips reminded me of sins I had committed, acts of pride I'd hoped to hide so never had admitted. A table was before her, magnificently set with brilliant charms of elegance he claimed to have beget "Fall down on your knees," said he, "Pledge to me your heart and all this beauty will be yours, never to depart!" |

But an angel at my side replied, "Beware the haughty face which cannot live forever but brings the Lord's disgrace!" |

He didn't relent but tried to tempt me with the god of greed Whose altar overflowed with more than anyone could need! precious jewels and gems of gold worth more than I could measure, "Okay," said he, "Your heart's desire, THIS shall be your treasure! If you but give your promise to set your mind on me I will give you all you need to finally set you free from all the strife of daily life over which you fret, Look around you! This will be an oath you won't regret!" |

But the Spirit of Life said, "Worse than strife is plunder come from he, For only treasures of the Lord will last eternally!" |

Who knew the secrets of my past, and moved me to desire Who sought to fill his master's will: sacrifice to sire. Then he whispered softly, "You'll never be alone if you only stop and pledge your body as my own." |
||
But then a Saint said, "Do not taint yourself nor give accord but keep your body Holy; a temple of the Lord!" |

More irate, he threatened fate would bring me to an end, where anger wrought depression would be my only friend. He told me I would surely fail ~ never reach my goal, "And then," said he, with wicked glee, I'll FEED UPON YOUR SOUL! /////////////////////////spacespacespacespacespace |

His words of anger shook my soul and filled my heart with dread, as visions of his prophecy danced inside my head. But there, within the shadows, I found where I'd gone wrong For in His Holy name, I held the power all along! I then submitted to my Lord and spoke His name with glee and woke up to the SONrise as I watched my temptor flee! |
