The K-man is back again with his latest offering 'Kaho Na Pyar Hai', but unfortunately there's much left to be desired about the movie. It's a run of the mill plot, only the presentation is stylized. It is supposed to be a love story with a thriller but somehow manages to be none.

Filthily rich, Mr.Saxena (Anupam Kher, isn't he sick of playing these roles) is always pampering his daughter Sonia (Amisha Patel) with whatever money can buy. Poor Rohit (Hritik Roshan) and kid brother are living in a seaside bungalow with the very caring landlords (Farida Jalal & Satish Shah). He has a dream to become a singer and man, does he sing? He sings at his pet ship, on a cruise ship, on an island and everywhere imaginable. Phew! Love at first sight again between Rohit and Sonia. They even get stranded on a magnificent island and dream on to a life with each other.

Shinde (Ashish Vidyarthi) and Kadam (Mohnish Behl) are two Police Inspectors with unhindered power at their disposal, they smuggle narcotics et al with the nexus of Mr.Shakti (Dalip Tahil) and Mr.Saxena. They murder the commissioner of police and Rohit is an eyewitness to the crime and is subsequently bumped off.

A distraught Sonia is deported to New Zealand, where is bumps into suave and stylish Raj (Hritik again). The following plot is deliberately interwoven in a way to keep audiences guessing about Raj's real identity. Both come down to India and the unholy nexus, assuming Raj to be Rohit, start stalking him. After a whole series of chases and dhisum-dhisum, all ends well.

Adonis is what comes to mind, while speaking about Hritik. He has a very good Screen presence and acted quite well for a new comer. Believe me he is an amazing dancer and can easily fit into cute and macho roles. Anyway the film seems to be his screen test, his whole range of performance is captured on cinema i.e. romantic, comedy, action and everything else. Amisha has nothing much to do, she is just a glam doll. Nothing much to talk about the rest of the cast as their characterization is very sketchy for e.g. Johny Lever is there just for one scene.

It's a movie Papa Rakesh Roshan and not the director made, the script is really a big disappointment and leaves much to be desired, not expected from the caliber of Rakesh Roshan. To project Hritik in a favorable light papa has ignored everything else. Music is nice and hummable especially the two Lucky Ali's numbers. Cinematography is classy and the canvas is strewn with all the colours.

The film is definitely worth a dekko if at all for Hritik's performance.

And yeah! Guys, its not a film to be seen with your mates, as their raving and ranting over Hritik just might prick your male ego.

Gagsy's Rating: 9/10 - A good watch and the birth of a Superstar! Amisha isn't that bad either!
