The Views in Ty Rhiw, Taffs Well will get
another modest investment when Rhondda Cynon Taf spends another £40,000 on
improving footpaths and steps.
Last year
Councillor Adrian Hobson announced a £120,000 investment in the
Views with priority given to improving pedestrian access and safety.
Adrian said
" The Views have been largely neglected for many, many years. Nearby, in
Old Ty Rhiw we recently made a multi-million pound investment to improve
BISF (steel framed) houses. This included grant aiding private owners of
BISF houses. The improvement to that estate is very obvious
and The Views seems a poor neighbour by comparison.
I was concerned that we should begin to make things better in The Views
and the Housing Department has been able to provide a modest
but essential budget to let us make a start.
Some residents have made a great effort to improve their homes but the
rest of the estate has been let down by poor infrastructure and a historic
lack of maintenance. The present administration of RCT is reversing that
trend by undertaking safety work on crumbling steps and footpaths and
improving disabled access.
Further work
has been programmed for next year."
Councillor
Adrian Hobson is also pressing the Council to make carry out more
improvements by painting council houses and replacing windows.
