Plaid controlled Rhondda Cynon Taff are rapidly reversing many years of decay in Council owned properties.

Local examples of improvements are the complete rebuilding of every Council house in Ty Rhiw, the repainting of Council houses in Nantgarw and the start of work on The Views.

Now the Council is starting to replace out-dated and draughty windows. A contract has been awarded to replace windows at Heol Edwards, Garth View and Graig View in Nantgarw and Bryncoch and King Street in Taff's Well. Work will begin on Monday 1 October 2001.

Councillor Adrian Hobson said:

"This is more good news for our tenants. They will benefit from modern windows with better standards of heat and noise insulation.

The wider community benefit from environmental improvements which arise from our better management of the Council's housing stock."

"Plaid is certainly making a difference to Council tenants and we'll continue to make improvements.

The last administration treated tenants abominably. I suppose they assumed that because they lived in Council houses they could rely on their votes no matter how bad housing conditions got.

My only worry is, if they get back in, the decline will being again. "
