how the votes work At TRL you can vote two different ways, by e-mail or by phone. Now, mostly online voting is the most convenient and quickest way, however there is a catch for spending your time on the phone to vote. TRL receives anywhere from 1,000 to 2,000 phone call requests a day, and more than 10,000 e-mail requests (maybe more), the more you vote the better the chance your video has to making it on the countdown. Voting has always been one of the main factors in TRL, ever since the early days phone and e-mail totals we're given for most of the videos. )) voting tips & tricks Phone voting, now there's much more than just calling in, pressing some buttons and you're done. Each phone request is worth 50 online votes, this makes a huge difference in video totals and is the reason why videos do so well or so horrible. If you have the means of calling in I would highly recommend doing so. Voting Online, here's a helpful tip: go to you Start Menu > Settings > Control Panel > Internet (or Internet Options) > Temporary Internet Files. Click on either "Delete Files" or "Settings" highlight and delete every Cookie file (a cookie is a tracking document which records when and where you access a web page), named like this "Cookie: Whatever@mtv.com", by doing this you delete the history document that you visited MTV.com, so when you open a new browser window and go to MTV online it will be like you're visiting for the first time, so you can vote at TRL and it will count again. If this is something you really want to set your mind on then repeat the steps above (but make sure you always close the browser window after you vote and don't push the "back" button in the window to try to vote again--this just doesn't work). )) what can i vote for ? TRL never stresses this point enough: you can vote for anything, absolutely anything, people always assume that "Oh Britney and BSB are on the countdown now, I have to vote for them.." no you don't..actually you can't vote for a video that's 20 years old, but it won't even reach the countdown unless enough people vote for it. One good example of this was when New Kids On The Block debuted @ #2 during Hip Hop Week 1999 with "Hangin' Tough". Even videos that were on the countdown before the TRL Hall of Fame was established can be voted for and returned to the countdown to finish off their 65 days. Do people notice this NO, trust me people you can vote for any video out there, there has to be over 10 million so don't vote for the normal stuff on the countdown, let's get some variety, it makes the show a lot more interesting and fun. |
