This sleepy road is a true backroad, not ideal to travel on if you are in a hurry. With it's only exception to the rule between North Wilkesboro and Elkin, NC 268 is a slow no thrills drive through the foothills of North Carolina.

My only question is why a Winston-Salem Journal newspaper box is standing in the middle of nowhere (there isn't a house or building for at least a mile from the eastern terminus).
