Chapter Five

Two Worlds Apart--Chapter Five "BOOO!! OFF THE STAGE! OFF THE STAGE!" Kelli, Sarah, and Katie were putting their two cents in on the boys' rehearsal. They had just finished rehearsing, and the girls were mocking them.

"Come on," AJ panted. "I'd like to see you come up here and do better!"

"We just did! It was two hours ago!" Kelli shouted. "Besides, I could whoop your ass any day of the week." She stood up on the back of the chair and tried to imitate Julia Roberts from My Best Friend's Wedding. "Besides, I've got moves you've never seen."

"Kelli, I'll give you $20 if you do a cartwheel across the back of the seats," Katie dared.

Kelli shrugged. "Sure, why not?"

Ten seconds later, Kello was falling to the floor. "Holy Lightning!" Thud.

"You all right?" Brian asked from his microphone.

"Yeah, except I see three of you," came a muffled reply.

"I have a feeling that the move she just made was not intended for us to see," Kevin said.

"A little help, dancers? I can't seem to find my legs."

"Oh, boooooys!!" Sarah shouted. "Julia Roberts here needs help."

Nick and Brian jumped offstage and walked over to where Keili was lying flat on her back.

"Hey. What a way to make an impression, huh?" Kelli asked as they helped her up. Nick held onto her hand a few more seconds than necessary, but Brian noticed and elbowed him in the ribs.

"Does anyone have Tylenol?" Kelli wondered, rubbing her temples.

"I do!" A pretty blond girl ran up behind Nick and Brian, holding a glass of water and two pills.

"Oh, thanks." Kelli swallowed the pills and drank the glass of water. "Here's a bit of advice: Never do a cartwheel across the backs of chairs. You could fall and hit your head."

"Good advice," Brian agreed. "By the way, Leighanne meet Kelli, Kelli meet Leighanne."

"Nice to meet you," Leighanne said. "I've heard a lot about you."

Kelli grinned. This girl seemed really sweet. "That's funny, cuz I've heard absolutely nothing about you!" she laughed.

"Leighanne's my girlfriend," Brian explained.

"Oh! Well, don't I feel like an idiot now! It's great meeting you." Kelli looked at her watch. "Well, kids, it's been awesome, but now i have a major headache. And our bus is getting loaded soon, so I'll be seeing you in about three hours."

"Later, Kel," Sarah said.

"We'll probably be back at the hotel in an hour or so," Katie added.

"Do you need a ride?" Nick offered.

"Well, actually, I was just gonna call for a cab."

"Don't bother. I can take you."

"Are you sure? I mean, I don't want to impose or anything."

Nick grinned and fished around in his backpack for his keys. "Really. It's no problem. See? Here's my car keys. Let's go."

He walked toward the exit, and Kelli shrugged her shoulders. "Hey, wait for me!" When she caught up to him, he draped his arm over her shoulder. She looked back at everyone to see that they were all giving her the thumbs-up sign.

'MAJOR BABE' she mouthed. Immediately, AJ, Brian, Sarah and Katie started laughing. Leighanne, Howie and Kevin just gave them funny looks.
